The woman dubbed “Lady Al Qaeda” was convicted of attempted murder Wednesday.
A federal jury in Manhattan found Aafia Siddiqui guilty of grabbing a soldier’s rifle and opening fire on an American team sent to question her in Afghanistan.
The 37-year-old MIT-trained neuroscientist faces up to 60 years in prison for attempted murder and armed assault.
Siddiqui took the stand in her own defense and denied ever touching the M-4 rifle.
Prosecutors had little forensic evidence but put up military witnesses who saw her do it.
She grabbed the unguarded rifle and started shooting at an Afghan police station where she was taken after being caught with bomb-making chemicals and a list of New York landmarks.
