THE ULTIMATE WORD GAME: GADI ADELMAN
Â
Exclusive: The Ultimate Word Game
In case you missed the news on April 7th, since it was considered by so many news agencies not even to be newsworthy and all but disappeared by the next day, the AP reported that “President Barack Obama’s advisers will remove religious terms such as ‘Islamic extremism’ from the central document outlining the U.S. national security strategy.â€
Â
Interesting when you think about it. I can understand the word “Islamic†being described as a religious term, but “Islamic extremism”? I’m confused. Was it not our own government’s political correctness that coined the phrases “radical Islam†and “Islamic extremist†so that we wouldn’t confuse them with those people from the religion of peace, which they then coined “moderate Islam?â€
Â
Keeping all these proper terms straight is beginning to get really difficult.Does this mean that we no longer call peace-loving Muslims “moderate?†I think it would be easier to just call terrorists, “terrorists,†but no, our government changed that last January, remember? That’s right. That was when Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano started saying “man-caused disasters†rather than “terrorism.†Okay, then how about using the term “enemy combatant?†No, hang on a moment, Attorney General Eric Holder announced in March of ‘09 that the term “enemy combatant†will no longer be used by the federal government to describe, uh, enemy combatants captured on the battlefield.
Â
According to the AP “the change is a significant shift in the National Security Strategy, a document that previously outlined the Bush Doctrine of preventative war and currently states: ‘The struggle against militant Islamic radicalism is the great ideological conflict of the early years of the 21st century.’ †I guess the term mentioned above – “militant Islamic radicalism†– is right out the window, huh?
Â
In many of my past articles I have pointed out that the Obama administration is being too cavalier when it comes to a whole host of things where our national security is involved, but especially so when it comes to terrorism. In my article “We are at war with the 25th Panzer Division…Right?â€, which I wrote back in mid January, I asked “Do they honestly believe that if they use kinder, gentler language that those who want to kill us – those who want to destroy our country and destroy our entire culture – will just lay down their weapons and play patty-cake with us? Are they trying to convince the American public of this, or just themselves?â€
Â
Even in February I wrote about the extreme importance of using the correct words and how not doing so can be deadly, “Not Every Violent Act Amounts to Terrorism†explained that “our government obviously has a problem with its own words, definitions and political correctness. We need not help it along by encouraging the use of incorrect terminology.â€
Â
Since taking office, Obama has bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and made a speech in Cairo where he blamed America for our “strained†relations with the Muslim world. After the Fort Hood massacre, Obama refused to use the word “Islamist terror†let alone the word “terror†at all and warned us not to “rush to judgment,†even though it was already known that Maj. Hassan had shouted “Allah is great!†while he gunned down 51 patriots, killing 13. Five days later when giving remarks at the memorial he never so much as mentioned the words “terror,†“terrorism,â€â€ Jihad,†“Islam,†“Islamist†or “Muslim.†He has extended constitutional rights to foreign terrorists, including allowing them to be read their Miranda rights.
Â
Three days after the Christmas day bomber managed to successfully set himself on fire, Obama, while on vacation in Hawaii, called him an “isolated extremist†even though it was already a fact that he had admitted to being trained and sent by al Qaeda. Let’s not forget that after a whopping 50 minutes, this “isolated extremist†was also read his Miranda Rights and given an attorney.
Â
Just recently, this administration has all but shunned our only true ally in the Middle East, Israel, accusing them of stalling the peace process even though Hamas continues to deny Israel’s right to exist while still firing rockets on Israeli civilians as I reported on in my article “Israel – No longer an ally of the U.S.â€
Â
Iran is day by day getting closer to obtaining a nuclear weapon, yet the so-called sanctions that we were promised have yet to materialize.
Â
The only diplomats who have visited the White House with whom Obama refused to have a photo op have been the Dalai Lama and the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. Funny… considering that I have seen pictures of Obama with President Chávez, one wonders what the motivations are of his advisors to make such choices.
Â
At what point do we start to ask what is going on here? I have to wonder myself at what point will I be charged with hate speech for stating the truth, when more and more of this political incorrectness continually comes out of the White House minions and other branches and players in our government? When will our First Amendment rights – and others – really be challenged?
Â
I guess I should just concentrate on writing only about those people who were arrested in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio last month – you know who I mean, the nine members of that “Christian Militia.â€
Â
Oops, am I allowed to call them that?
