National Security

The world has changed dramatically since the wars fought by the Greatest Generation and the threats placed upon our nation each day are real and serious.  From terrorist attacks like those on 9/11 to the Christmas Day attempt in Michigan – and from threats in Asia and the Middle East – our military and law enforcement leaders are challenged each day, yet do an amazing job of protecting us.

America has a long and rich history of protecting both its people and its allies and at no time in recent history is that more important than now.  We must provide the men and women of our Armed Forces with the tools that they need to do the job and allow us to enjoy the freedoms that they provide.

In a world with so much instability, there remain breeding grounds for terrorists ready to inflict pain, suffering and death upon Free people across the globe.  The United States has a responsibility to protect ourselves, our allies and our people from terrorist attacks both on American soil and abroad.  We simply cannot allow terrorist cells to pop up in Baghdad and Tehran, let alone Miami, Chicago or even right here in Arkansas.

Congress must renew its resolve to protect those who protect us.  We must equip our military with the best possible technology and we must encourage our law enforcement officials at every level to work together toward a common goal of a terrorist-free world.  As your Representative, I will stand up every day to give our military and first responders the tools they need to protect our families and freedoms.

Ronald Reagan, through his words and actions promoted peace through strength.  He won the Cold War and helped create public policy that kept us safe though a time of similar instability.  I admire that philosophy and commitment to peace.  In Congress, I will rely on the information and opinions of men and women of our armed forces and honorable Veterans right here in Arkansas to help me make the choices necessary to protect our nation. 

We must strengthen our borders, improve our intelligence and continue to show the world that we are a compassionate nation committed to enhancing that which is good and punishing, without prejudice, those who attack America.  Arkansas can count on Princella Smith to stand up for what is right, to protect those who protect us and to provide the leadership necessary to get the job done.
