IN THE FOXHOLES WITH LIEBERMAN, SCHUMER AND SUSAN COLLINS
Dear E-Pals;
I won’t belittle you or me by stating the obvious. I have no ill feelings about homosexuals.
I think that decisions on gays in the military should be left to the military not to legislators who have never seen any combat other than that waged to keep their sinecures in Congress.
I watched Joe Lieberman. Susan Collins and Chuckie Schumer preening and gloating about the repeal of DADT and thought…..would I ever want to be stuck in a fox hole under enemy fire with them or with Nancy Pelosi?
Well, you answer that.
Furthermore, neither Lieberman nor Schumer served in the military although they were draft eligible…..In fact during the Vietnam War Lieberman became a leading peace activist in his home state — He was a founding member of the dissident, antiwar Caucus of Connecticut Democrats. The young Lieberman, escaped the Vietnam draft with student and family deferments between 1961 and 1967.
Well that’s part of his burnished bio that Lieberman prefers “Don’t ask and don’t tell.”
This is bipartisan….plenty of hawkish Republicans also avoided service. I don’t want to revisit that but I just don’t think that people like Brigadier General Susan Collins et.al. should make decisions for the military…..
