Patrick Dunleavy’s book on prisons and the imams that convert inmates is the most important and disturbing book I have read in years. Read it and be very afraid…..rsk
Zuccotti Park in New York City became the birthplace and later the headquarters of the nationwide Occupy Wall Street Movement in September of this year.
Camp kitchens were set up with gourmet meals to feed the hungry protesters as they waged war for the proletariat against the rich.
Distribution of sleeping bags and other essentials necessary for a prolonged stay in the park were free to all who came.
It was touted as the working man’s Utopia, fighting against the evil one percent who enslave us.
It didn’t take long for trouble to brew in Paradise. News reports of drug usage, crime, and sexual assault began to emerge in the following weeks. How did that happen?
Leaders of the movement accused the Bloomberg administration, particularly the NYPD, of sending recently released prisoners from the city’s Correction Department on Rikers Island to Zuccotti Park. This, according to OWS leaders, was a deliberate attempt to disrupt the movement.
The Fertile Soil of Jihad: Terrorism’s Prison Connection by Patrick T. Dunleavy (Hardcover – Sep 30, 2011)
It seems that the NYPD is being blamed for everything these days from spying on specific communities to disrupting free speech. So where did the cons come from?
On November 18th a rally was held in New York City sponsored in part by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) to show support for the OWS and to protest alleged abuses by the NYPD of the protesters as well as the Muslim Community as a whole.
Demonstrators at the rally carried signs stating; “NYPD Watches us. Who Watches NYPD?”
Among the Islamic organizations participating in the OWS support rally was the Muslim American Society, the Islamic Council of North America, Al-Awda and the Majlis Ash-Shura of Metropolitan New York. The last group also known as the Islamic Leadership Council had previously held a prayer service in Zuccotti Park in October to voice support of the OWS movement and decrying the oppressive tactics of law enforcement against Muslims by comparing the two movements and stating that they were fighting the same enemy. Some of the followers also shouted chants in support of the Arab Spring Movement and accused Israel of oppressive apartheid like treatment of Palestinians.
The Islamic Leadership Council also known as the Majlis Ashura of New York is the ecclesiastical certifying body for Muslim Chaplains in New York City, including the Department of Corrections.
Zulqarnain Abdu Shahid.
Both the founding President, Imam Al Amin Abdul Latif and the current President Talib Abdur Rashid are former employees of the New York State Department of Corrections. Many of the chaplains certified by them have previously served time in prison for crimes like armed robbery and murder such as Zulqarnain Abdu Shahid aka Paul Pitts. He was the prison chaplain who was arrested in 2010 for attempting to smuggle dangerous contraband into the Manhattan House of Detention. Pitts had previously served 17 years in prison for a homicide.
Some of the clergy certified by the Council are known to hold anti-Semitic views toward Israel and a distain for law enforcement.
So how did the ex-cons get to Zuccotti Park? Perhaps they just followed their Chaplains.
