Recall that, most often, most of the world has declared a “moral equivalence” between Jewish babes being deliberately slaughtered and Israeli steps taken to try to stop that slaughter.
Given this ongoing state of affairs, what all the above simply comes down to is this…
Israel has become far too predictable.
Israeli leaders–even the allegedly “tough” Netanyahu–continue to cave into pressure from so-called friends…the same ones who would have leveled the source of these atrocities had they been done to their own peoples.
Arabs, who refuse to dismantle their terrorist infrastructures and who still do not accept the permanency of a Jewish State, also demand that Israel stand by and do nothing while Jews get butchered. They can’t seem to figure out why Israel must have such things as a security barrier or real borders instead of armistice lines, which made it, among other things, a mere 9-15 miles wide–a constant temptation to those aiming to destroy it. As if the answer wasn’t obvious.
How many other nations would continuously tolerate such horror without exacting just and devastating retribution? Think about the daisy cutter and bunker-buster bombs, and so forth America has used against its own enemies in Afghanistan and Iraq, as just a few recent examples.Or Russia in Chechnya…
You see, here’s the problem…
Despite all that the Arabs say and accuse Israel of as part of their Pallywood performances (http://www.seconddraft.org/movies.php), they know that the Jews will try their very best to just kill the rats in their dens. They’ll go house to house, endangering their own sons, and will try to target the exact murderers and plotters as best as possible. That’s what routinely happens in Gaza, yet those operations become the Arabs’ next excuses for future barbarism.
What is too often ignored is the fact that the Geneva Conventions make perfectly clear that armies and so-called “militants” (are those who deliberately slit the throats of babies merely “militants?”) are not permitted to use their own non-combatants as human shields; that those non-combatants do not prevent an army from pursuing them; and that any harm occurring to the civilian population as a consequence falls on the heads of the cowards using their own people this way.
Yet, you’d never know this by listening to most of the accounts in the mainstream media or given by the UN or even by our own State Department.
Given all of the above, there is, again, only one conclusion…
Israel has indeed become too darn predictable.
Arabs know that their own families will not be deliberately targeted by Jews on buses, in restaurants, shopping centers, and so forth.
So what I will state next, I regret, but will say anyway…
It’s time–given the Arab track record–for them to reap what they have sown.
It’s time for repeated, massive, exponential Israeli retaliation. Each new act of terror must be followed by increasingly harsh retribution.
It’s time for Israel to do what is necessary to protect its citizens, regardless of how much aid the U.S. unfairly decides to suspend. And many a U.S. citizen will convey the proper message to politicians come November 2012 if State Department Arabists and allies are allowed to have their nasty way with Israel over such things.
Despite the on again, off again sweet talk of the late Arafat’s current chief lieutenant, Fatah and the PA’s Holocaust-denying “moderate” Mahmoud Abbas,” poll after poll among Arabs continuously show that even if Israel withdrew to the suicidal armistice lines imposed upon it after the 1948 fighting (having been invaded by surrounding Arab countries immediately upon its rebirth)–something UN Resolution #242 expressly does not require it to do–Arabs would still reject its right to exist anyway. So, who’s kidding whom here regarding issues like the security barrier, building freeze, and so forth? And Israel’s “friends” know this as well.
It’s time for Arabs to know that Israel will tell the hypocrites around the rest of the world (much of whom also have plenty of Jewish blood on their hands) that it doesn’t care what they think and act to protect its own people–as any other nation would–as best as it can.
Instead of retaliating against Arab murderers and wannabes by bombing empty fields and buildings–as the Jews often do–it’s time for Israel to get far more serious. And it’s time for it to not worry too much about being too proportionate or overly precise in its targeting, for it’s time that Arabs fully understand that if they harbor and support terrorists as heroes, they’ll share in their fate. President George W. Bush said almost those exact words regarding America’s own fight after 9/11, and General Colin Powell’s own doctrine on war needs to be reviewed by anyone critical of Israel’s far-to-gentle policy of restraint.
When dealing with their own “problems”–a la Assad Sr.’s “Hama Solution” in Syria (in which over ten times more people were killed in one month than Israel killed in two years of intifada), King Hussein’s Black September in Jordan, Saddam’s massacres of Kurds in Iraq, the slaughter of millions of black Africans in the Sudan, and so forth–Arabs have murdered literally millions by poison gas, bombs, and artillery from afar. All frequently with barely a peep out of the United Nations…and no hearings before an international court of justice, either.
It’s time for Israel to make clear that it will use its own air force, tanks, and such– the way America has–to target the rats’ dens instead of risking the lives of its own nineteen-year-old infantrymen by futilely trying to do the job as “morally correct” as possible. This policy continues to gain it nothing among the world’s hypocrites and costs it the lives of more of its own soldiers instead. Israel gets condemned no matter what it does and how careful it tries to be.
Look, Israel continues to fight a war it didn’t want. It has repeatedly offered more than fair compromises to its enemies–far more than Arabs have ever offered to scores of millions of their own non-Arab national competitors.
But nothing short of Israel’s own suicide will satisfy most Arabs and their supporters.
Take a good look around today as Arabs run over Copts’ heads in Egypt with military vehicles, continue to butcher black Africans in the Sudan, terrorize Kurds in Syria, murder their own people throughout the region, and so forth. Given all this, do you really think that Arabs worry about “ethical choices” when they’re disemboweling kilab yahud–“Jew dogs?”
On the contrary, the more innocent the Jewish victim, the more preferred he or she is for shock value. And this goes beyond Israel’s borders as well.
Think about that beautiful, eight-year old blond girl at school in Toulouse who was recently chased down by a rabid beast, caught by her pony tail, and had her brains blown out by him–along with two little boys at the same school and their father. Shame on Israel for not taking out numerous of the bastard’s wannabes closer to home right afterwards. To hell with world opinion.
So, I believe–as politically incorrect as it may sound–It’s long overdue for Arabs to get massive doses of at least a modified version of their own medicine. Killing Jews and the prospective subsequent retaliation needs to become a major concern not only among Arab fighters but in all Arab households. If Jewish civilians are deliberately targeted, Arab civilians need to think twice about the cost of this murderous game as well.
While I don’t advocate stooping to their own level by blowing up Arab civilian buses, restaurants, schools, and such, any building, town, and so forth harboring murderers and their collaborators must be recognized for what the Geneva Conventions say it is…a fair military target. For starters, check below…
Article #51/7:
The presence of the civilian population shall not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations, in particular in attempts to shield military objectives from attack.
Israel has frequently not taken out prime targets because of the presence of Arab human shields nearby. This, at the very minimum, must be modified. Either that, or Israel allows the Arabs to set the rules of the game–a game that Jews will not win.
Article #58b:
The parties to the conflict shall…avoid locating military objectives within or near densely populated areas.
As we’ve seen above, the rats’ dens are typically set up in, or adjacent to, such places as civilian apartment buildings, hospitals, mosques, and schools–as America learned for itself in Iraq and elsewhere.
Article #51/2:
The civilian population…shall not be the object of attack. Acts of violence the primary purpose of which is to spread terror among the civilian population are prohibited…Indiscriminate attacks are prohibited.
Arabs typically target Israeli civilians.
And those famous parades and funeral processions showing hundreds of the dead butcher’s colleagues firing weapons into the air?
As Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry would say…Make my day.
It’s time that Israel sees them for what they are–one very big, legitimate, and convenient military target.
What sense is there wasting lots of money on expensive missiles and such to fire at empty buildings or take out one or a few “heroes” when the same effort can bag many more? Eight score dead Hamasniks in exchange for one eight-year old girl might then ring a bell…
You see, it is long past the time for Israel to stop letting Arabs dictate how the overall game will be played.
If Jewish infants, children, and pregnant mothers are fair game for Arabs, then what are their deliberate murderers’ and collaborators for Israel?
The next time Hamas & Co. has a parade or any other show of bravado, Israel needs to send up an adequate welcoming party. And some firm messages need to be conveyed to the American-built army Mahmoud Abbas now has as well. Reports say that they’re itching for a fight with the Jews too–including some coming right out of the mouth of the American officer in charge of such stuff.
Just think what a few well-placed 1,000-pound bombs will do to such Hamas and Islamic Jihad festivities. It’s called fighting to win–something Jews are usually denied by other international powers that be. And that’s what Sarah Honig’s artticle is all about too.
Sure, the Arabs and the rest of the world will scream their hypocritical heads off–the same folks who fire-bombed Dresden, nuked Japan, conquered and acquired lands hundreds and thousands of miles away from home, and so forth when their own interests were at stake.
And the more unpredictable the Israeli response, the better.
Once again…every Arab act of terror must be met with a costly response.
Tit for tat manure–like Israel has mostly been practicing–does not work when there are two hundred million Arabs and six million Jews (why am I nervous about that number?). And this does not include hundreds of millions of other non-Arab Muslims Israel must also take into the equation–especially Ahmadinejad’s Iran, the source of most of Hamas’s and Hizbullah’s weaponry.
I wish it had not come to this. But, when volumes of Arabs start dying after each act of terror and do so relatively randomly (Arabs outnumber Jews 40 to one…they know this, so do the math), perhaps they’ll be less likely to treat their own wanton murderers as heroes.
And no more Israel thinking that it must locate the exact rocket squad which did the firing and such.
The required payment must be the rocket squad plus fifty…at the very least. And they must never know who’s going to get nailed next. It’s called deterrence…something too many Arabs don’t think Israel has anymore.
I can hear all the duplicitous critics already. Not to mention the let’s-jump onto-the-cattle-cars-yet-again pathetic, Lefty Hebrews themselves…
Who cares?
While my answer may also not be the solution, Israel has tried everything except consenting to its own demise–and nothing else worked either.
Unilateral withdrawals from territory have only brought Arab weapons and terrorists closer to Israel proper–with no peace, except that of the grave. Since 1967, Arabs simply replaced a “one fell swoop” strategy for Israel’s demise with a destruction-in-phases plan instead.
The verdict must therefore be that Israel must lose its predictability, keep its attackers totally off-guard, being proactive instead of reactive, and deliver to its tormentors a mega-taste of what they’ve been dishing out.
And finally, it’s long overdue for Israel to draw its own must have lines in the sand, compatible with the territorial compromise built into the final draft of UNSC Resolution 242, and let all parties know them–including, and especially, its alleged friends in Washington.
