CAROLINE GLICK: THE REIGN OF THE FANTASISTS ****

http://www.carolineglick.com/e/2012/06/the-reign-of-the-fantasists.php?utm_source=MadMimi&utm_medium=email&utm_content=The+reign+of+the+fantasists&utm_campaign=The+reign+of+the+fantasists&utm_term=Continue+Reading___ Defense Minister Ehud Barak has done it again. Speaking on Wednesday at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv, Barak warned that if Israel can’t cut a deal with the Palestinians soon, it should consider surrendering Judea and Samaria in exchange for nothing. Even the diehard leftists in the media had a […]

SARAH HONIG: PREEMPTING PIGGY’S END *****

http://sarahhonig.com/2012/06/01/another-tack-preempting-piggys-end/

“It’s not about issues or our misdeeds. It’s time for in-house popularity-seekers to quit trying to curry favor by joining the anti-Piggy clamor and snitching about the generic Piggy’s trumped-up transgressions, his outlaw settlements and defiant self-defense. Nothing good can come of additionally tarnishing his already unjustifiably battered image.”

Of late, shocked to their ultra-sensitive core, our chattering classes tug extra-hard on our national fire bells. With exhilarated alarm, they alert us to how unloved we are overseas. Our news purveyors appear to take uncommon pleasure in driving the point home.

The other day broadcasters announced solemnly that “Germans have become markedly more critical of Israel, with 59% describing it as aggressive, according to a survey published by the Stern weekly.”This monumentally significant poll was conducted on the eve of German President Joachim Gauck’s visit to our backwoods.

We’re definitely on a treacherous downward spiral because, as several reporters stressed, “a similar Stern survey in 2009 found that only 49% considered Israel aggressive.” Ouch!

The Process Trap by Shoshana Bryen

http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/3088/process-trap Few things ought to be as urgent as keeping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, yet the West – led from the front by the United States – has fallen into the “peace process” trap that considers talk to be progress and, once a conversation has begun, that there is nothing worse than stopping it.[1] […]

Questions Facing the Muslim World by Harold Rhode

http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/3089/questions-facing-muslim-world Many parts of the world, such as Korea, China, and India – basically medieval kingdoms fifty or sixty years ago — are now among the pacesetters of the modern world, both producing, and improving on, existing inventions. The Muslim world, however, often better off than these countries just half a century ago, has remained […]

ANDREW McCARTHY: FROM RULE OF LAW TO “HIT LIST”….THE TIMES LAUDS OBAMA AT WAR

http://pjmedia.com/andrewmccarthy/2012/05/31/from-rule-of-law-to-hit-list-the-times-lauds-obama-at-war/ “The president accepts as a fact that a certain amount of screw-ups are going to happen, and to him, that calls for a more judicious process.” Well, that’s certainly a judicious use of judicious by William Daley. The former White House chief of staff was addressing the inevitability of collateral damage inherent in President […]

DIANA WEST: FANTASY ISLAM VS. ISLAM

http://dianawest.net/Home/tabid/36/EntryId/2130/Fantasy-Islam-vs-Islam.aspx In pointing out recently that Geert Wilders confounds Americans with his fearless clarity, one of the incidents I had in mind was an interview he sat for in May with The Daily Caller’s Jamie Weinstein (photo above). Because it so perfectly encapsulates the point at which sparkly-brittle delusions about Islam crack up against obdurate […]

DIANA WEST: LIBERTY LOST

http://www.dianawest.net/Home/tabid/36/EntryId/2133/Liberty-Lost.aspx

Back in 2001, Britain’s political parties signed a fantastic pledge. They agreed to say nothing to “stir up racial or religious hatred, or lead to prejudice on grounds of race, nationality or religion.”

This gag order did more than keep the parties polite. Vital issues – from massive immigration and multiculturalism to their eradicating effects on British civilization – were officially banned. Thus, such concerns became impermissible thoughts. Not that such issues weren’t already thoughtcrime, as George Orwell would have put it. But this unprecedented pledge turned “violators” into political lepers.I thought of that elite code of cowardice this week when a London judge sentenced a 42-year-old British secretary named Jacqueline Woodhouse to 21 weeks in jail. Her crime? An expletive-laden rant about immigration, multiculturalism and the disappearance of British civilization. Not in so many words. But that was the unmistakable gist of Woodhouse’s commentary one January night on the London Underground.

This same week, another London judge ordered two black girls, 18 and 19, to perform community service after a savage physical attack on two white legal secretaries. “I am satisfied what you both did, you did that night because you were fueled by alcohol,” Judge Stephen Kramer said, as though tut-tutting a child’s unknowing apple theft.

FIGHT TERRORISM NOT TERRORISTS: AMIL IMANI

http://amilimani.com/2012/05/fight-terrorism-not-terrorists/#more-1771 Sounds absurd? Why? All kinds of well-meaning and not so well meaning people who are alarmed with Islam Mayhem and Murder, Inc have been proclaiming that their fight is with Islam and not with Muslims. Who knows what motivates these people and how their system of logic runs. Greet Wilder says that his battle […]

GIULIO MEOTTI: ISLAMIZING THE TEMPLE MOUNT

Islamizing the Temple Mount

It’s the House of God. For centuries, Jews have remembered the destruction of the holy Temple in Jerusalem by crushing a glass at weddings or leaving unpainted a patch of wall in their homes. The Temple Mount is the magnificent edifice that has served the faithful as a symbol of God’s glory for 4,000 years. It’s Mount Moriah mentioned in the Book of Genesis. It’s the site where humanity received the gift of monotheism. It’s where God’s “shechina,” or presence, dwelt. Even the secular imagination, Jewish or not, has been shaped by the “Holy of Holies,” the most sacred site of the Jewish people. It’s there that King David raised a sanctuary for the Ark of the Covenant and King Solomon and Herod built the Temples. The Roman emperor Hadrian covered those ruins with a pagan temple to Jupiter; the Crusaders used it as a garbage dump to defile its Jewish significance and turned the area into a stable for their horses; the Arabs later built their own Islamic holy sites on top of those of their defeated enemy.

Many devout Jews today don’t set foot on the Temple Mount, afraid that they may be stepping on the ground covering the ruins of the Holy of Holies, allowed only to the High Priest on Yom Kippur. That is enough to keep them away. But there are those who believe they have a right to pray on the grounds where the Temple stood, particularly on Tisha be’Av, the anniversary of its destruction (Maimonides too prayed there). Though many respected rabbis forbid praying on the Mount, other very important Jewish leaders permit it. And there is a growing and brave movement, led by Rabbi Yisrael Ariel and Professor Hillel Weiss, which is trying to build awareness among the Israeli public on the Temple Mount. They are leading a historic battle for the rights of the Jews in their most holy site.
