EVOLUTION, IT’S NOT JUST FOR FISH
The Illegal Alien Amnesty (it’s not amnesty, you pay a fine!) was sold as a comprehensive immigration reform plan. Then we found out that the enforcement part of the plan is going to be watered down further and it’s basically another illegal alien amnesty, just like the one in 1986 and the attempt to repeat that folly in 2006.
Marco Rubio was opposed to both amnesties. In a Senate debate with Charlie Crist, Rubio criticized the Florida governor for backing the 2007 McCain-Kennedy immigration bill.
But the McCain-Kennedy immigration plan is the same as the 2013 Gang of 8 + Obama Comprehensive Immigration Reform. That message comes from none other than John McCain.
So Rubio is now selling what he opposed four years ago and his answer as to whether there’s going to be another amnesty.
“At the end of the day, I think your question is are we going to enforce our laws and deport people in the future when we have been unwilling to do it now, and I think the answer has to be yes or we’re going to wind up back here again in less than 10 years.”

Meanwhile a CIS poll shows that a majority of likely voters oppose amnesty and that more voters feel strongly against it than for it.
The Center for Immigration Studies has its own poll out which suggests that not only do the majority of voters not support amnesty, but the passion is stronger on the anti-amnesty side than on the pro-amnesty side.
Now this is important because after an extended media barrage, the center can shift left on a topic, whether it’s gay marriage, abortion or illegal immigration, but what matters is not that X amount of voters now say that gay illegal aliens should be able to marry their abortions, but how much they care about it.
The media, including sections of the conservative media, has barraged the American public with positive coverage of amnesty. That tends to lead the weak-minded to shift toward amnesty. But the question is how committed are they to it. That questions matters because the weak-minded can be shifted in the other direction once the counter-argument begins.
FOOD FASCISM CAN HAPPEN HERE
The proposed regulation would require store owners to label prepared, unpackaged foods found in salad bars and food bars, soups and bakery items. “If you get it wrong, it’s a federal crime, and you could face jail time and thousands of dollars worth of fines.”
The next step will be extend that to bake sales and to people who bring egg salad to church picnics. If your apple pie for the bake sale doesn’t have the proper nutritional information, the food gestapo will slide down the pole, shimmy through the extra narrow door, adjust the little plastic statue of Michelle Obama on their dashboard, turn on the siren that plays a mix of exercise music at ear-splitting volume and be on the way to you within 5 to 6 years.

So Rand Paul delivered his big Heritage foreign policy speech which consisted of
1. Conceding that Islamic terrorism exists and it’s a large minority, not a tiny minority, and that it exists even apart from American foreign policy.
The first half of that would be a big admission from any American Senator and the second half is important from the Camp of Paul, which insists that terrorism is blowback. It’s probably the most significant thing he has said on foreign policy so far.
2. Dismissing the threat of an Iranian nuke
3. Urging that we do less and take some sort of middle path that isn’t rash or reckless
4. Attacking military spending
5. Promoting Reagan as a moderate for being willing to sit down with the USSR.
6. Slobbering all over George F. Kennan and proposing a containment of “Radical Islam” in some general sense.
7. Claiming falsely that the United States funded Bin Laden
8. Not actually laying out much in the way of a foreign policy.
“I recognize that foreign policy is complicated. It is inherently less black and white to most people than domestic policy. I think there is room for a foreign policy that strikes a balance,” Paul said.
This is ironically almost exactly Kerry’s reply to Paul’s question about providing F16’s to the Muslim Brotherhood.
“Not everything, and this is always the complication in dealings with the international sector, not everything lends itself to a simple clarity, black white, this that, every time,” Kerry replied to Paul.
That’s the trouble with foreign policy nuance.
It’s easy to sound very enlightened by repeating truisms like “it’s not all black and white” truisms, but that doesn’t define the point at which things do become black and white. And that’s the point that truly matters.

The case against Mark Curtis rests on the accounts of two key witnesses, 15 year-old Demetria Harris and her 11 year-old brother Jason.
Demetria struggled, until “Mark” began punching her in the face and head. Jason, hearing the struggle, came to investigate. Opening the door a moment he saw “Mark” on top of Demetria. Jason went back into the house, armed himself with a kitchen knife, took the phone as far from the porch as he could, and dialed 911.
“This man is raping my sister,” he told police dispatcher Kim Manning. Manning logged the call into her computer at 8:51 PM. She then radioed officers Joseph Gonzales and Richard Glade, parked nearby. The officers arrived two minutes later, pulled up silently. They walked to the front door and knocked.
“Mark” put his hands around Demetria’s throat, “and started choking me, and told me not to say anything.” Gonzales and Glade pushed through the door, and “Mark,” his pants down around his legs, took off into the back of the house. Demetria, nude from the waist down and bleeding from the face, told Gonzales, “He just raped me.”
The assailant was cornered in a back bedroom, where, his pants still down around his legs, Mark Stanton Curtis was handcuffed and read his rights.
Curtis was joined at the celebration by several other speakers. “Tonight, we celebrate Mark’s release because now he can join in the struggle along with a new generation of dangerous young men and women,” said Tom Alter, a leader of the Young Socialists in Chicago and member of the YS national steering committee.

LIFE IS JUST LIKE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Being keenly aware of what it felt like to be bullied, we determined from Kindergarten our son would be equipped to deal with it physically and psychologically. Enter Martial Arts – from 5 years old forward, he trained in the art, discipline, and techniques of a martial artist. As a tiny guy with glasses, I feared the worst for him in Kindergarten but through an effervescent personality, watchful teachers and the training he was receiving he avoided it. Moving forward, he began to recognize bully in others and started stepping in to defend the under dog. Martial arts gave him the confidence he needed.
The first instance took place on the 2nd grade play ground, between a bully and an autistic kid. My son (who I will call Caleb), told the bully to stop. The bully did not, Caleb ushered him under a sliding board (outside of the watchful eyes of the teachers) and delivered a big punch to the stomach. Doubled over in pain, the bully was informed that he’d gotten off lightly, this time… I gushed with Motherly joy and pride at the story to which my 2nd Grader said, “Yeah, but now the Autistic kid hugs me every time he sees me.”
Thus, began the dynamic of Caleb the bully destroyer. This pattern and behavior continued through Elementary School but due to strict supervision the instances where Caleb was called to step in were limited to 3-4 times a year. Middle School, from a bullying perspective is a remake of “The Lord of the Flies”.
When asked this week why he was coming home with so many stories of fights, he exclaimed, “Mom, they are like zombies! They just keep coming! I deal with one and next week there is another to take his place.” He was talking about The Challenger type. Digging further, he revealed that he regularly steps in against Biff the Bully. So he deals with both kinds on a daily basis.
I said, “So describe the Challenger, what is this kid like?” Without missing a beat he said, “Oh, those are the Black kids from the Hood.” I scoffed, “Caleb, you are in one of the nicest public schools in the city, there are no kids from the hood that go to your school! When I went to school, there WERE kids from the Hood but you? No way.”
He shrugged, eleven year old’s are not into nuance. “Well, they walk down the hall and act like they are from the hood, so it’s most of these guys that are try to fight me.” I shake my head in bewilderment, “So what about the other type?” I ask. “Oh, those are the big white guys, lots of times football players.”
