NEW YORK, February 21, 2013 – This might be a good time for some Bible diplomacy as the President prepares to visit Israel March 20.

Every right to build on the land of Israel was already codified and blessed for the Jewish people in Scriptures.

Forget the resolutions, the editorialists, the boycotters, the sum of which go whoring for terrorists but deny Israel her legitimacies throughout the land. The “settlements,” they say, are all “occupied territories” and remain an obstacle to peace. Jewish Israelis should be replaced, and the territories should made Judenfrei (free of Jews, as it goes in German).

Mahmoud Abbas insists on ethnic cleansing and all their charters, PA, PLO, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, say the land belongs to them and them alone.

They’ve sold this merchandise to the world. But who is occupying whom?

Long before the New York Times was the paper of record, the Hebrew Bible was the book of record and remains the book of record. Written nearly 4,000 years ago, this book never became a relic. Instead it became and continues to be the fountainhead of our civilization. The Ten Commandments are words we all live by.

Let Obama bring his Bible to remember that Jerusalem was never the capital for any people except the Jewish people, from ages past until today.

Let Obama see for himself that there never was a Palestinian language, nor was there ever a Palestinian nation.

Let Obama bring his Bible to remember that from Genesis onward the land of Israel was promised to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; all Hebrews and their kin.

Let Obama study Hebrew to learn that this was the language spoken by God to Moses, from Moses to Joshua, from Joshua to King David.

From David to Jesus, says St. Matthew in a book accepted on faith by two billion Christians. St. Mathew’s Gospel has Jesus born in “Bethlehem of Judea.”

Judea was named after Judah. Judah was the fourth son of Leah and Jacob, Israelite matriarch and patriarch.

Menus and traffic signs in today’s Israel are written in the same language Moses used for Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

Let Obama study his Bible to remember that three thousand years ago, King David wrote his Psalms in the same language needed today to buy a loaf of bread in Tel Aviv. King David was anointed in Hebron, still holy to Jews, who today must travel in bullet-proof vans to visit the Tomb of the Patriarchs.

For more than 350 years an unbroken line of Israelite and Judean kings ruled the land of Scriptures, all of them linked to the house of David.

There never was a Palestinian king anywhere in sight for all those thousands of years. There were no Palestinian prophets. Zero.

Let Obama bring his Bible to remember that a million Hebrew prophets trekked the hills and valleys mentioned in the Five Books of Moses.

“How many people know that the Jewish presence in Hebron dates back more than 3,000 years? Or that ‘settlements’ such as Neve Ya’akov and Kfar Etzion were created during the British Mandatory period even before the State of Israel was founded?

“Centuries before the invention of Islam, King David was born in Bethlehem, Amos prophesied in Tekoa and Judah the Maccabee fought at Beit Horon. And 1,800 years before the PLO was established, Jews at Beitar were battling the Romans.”

Mr. President, forget the paperwork from the United Nations, but bring your Bible.

This bestseller might be a book to keep you company on the road to Jerusalem.
