Meg Lanker-Simons once fought to bring Bill Ayers to speak on campus, but I suspect the WU bigwig would be underwhelmed by the scope of her criminal ambition which consisted of faking a rape threat against herself from a Republican and then staging rallies to protest “Rape Culture”.

This was the scene on April 28 as hundreds gathered to denounce rape culture on the University of Wyoming campus. But the only rape culture that the rape culture gang could find was the one they manufactured.

“The demonstration is a reaction to the UW Crushes recent affirmation and perpetuation of rape culture on their Facebook page,” organizers of Monday’s UW Crushes Demonstration write on Facebook.

“This demonstration is to raise awareness about the ways in which rape culture is alive and thriving on college campuses.”

Organizers are also encouraging participants to make signs and wear teal in recognition of April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The demonstration comes on the heels of a graphic post made on the UW Crushes Facebook page earlier this week. An anonymous person used forceful sexual language in a post toward UW student Meg Lanker-Simons.

That anonymous person provedto be none other than Meg Lanker-Simons.

The university announced Tuesday that campus police cited Meg Lanker-Simons for misdemeanor interference with a police investigation by giving false statements.

The posting that threatened Lanker-Simons occurred on a Facebook forum for UW students, leading to an outcry and an investigation by UW police because it was directed at a student.

The Facebook page, which is not officially affiliated with the university, was taken down and a student-led demonstration against sexual violence was held.

UW police say they found what they called “substantial evidence” verifying that the post came from the computer belonging to Lanker-Simons.

Lanker-Simons is a blogger and local radio show host who advocates for liberal causes. In 2010, she filed a lawsuit against the university that forced UW to allow 1960s radical Bill Ayers on the campus for a speech on education.

But the protesters against the rape culture of activists making rape threats against themselves are claiming that the victim is being blame. Which is technically true as the victim is also the perpetrator, not counting the taxpayers who wasted money on this investigation, the administrator of the UW Crushes page, who was blamed for perpetuating rape culture.

Pamela Kandt, co-convener of the Episcopal Women’s Caucus and a Casper activist, lobbied university officials last week for a “swift response to this outrage” after the social media post went public.

“I will tell you, I believe Meg is innocent of this outrage,” said Kandt, adding that the citation is a “classic case of blaming the victim.”

Kandt said she spoke with Lanker-Simons following the citation’s issuance.

UW Police, Kandt said, “have bullied her and they have pulled a bluff.”

“This is the worst episode of ‘Law & Order’ you can imagine,” Kandt said. She added, “I mean, my God, who would do this to herself?”

The sort of person who invites Bill Ayers to campus. Obviously. And UW did its part by issuing a statement defending its initial overreaction as a virtue.

“This episode has sparked an important discussion reaffirming that the UW community has no tolerance for sexual violence or violence of any type,” UW spokesman Chad Baldwin said. “The fact that the Facebook post apparently was a fabrication does not change the necessity for continued vigilance in reassuring that we have a campus where everyone feels safe.

Somehow I doubt that if the politics were reversed but the genders stayed the same, that UW would have paid it a fraction of the attention that it did.
