Those words written in the early years of the 19th century by Sir Walter Scott referred to his story of a love triangle with all of the intrigue that ensued.
But it could equally represent the corruption and deception rife within the Obama Administration, within the State Department, in the IRS and among far too many of the personnel and bureaucrats existing in an ever growing BIG government that more and more is afflicting every aspect of our lives.
Note that in a mere seven months it will be the unprecedented function, for the first time in U.S. history, of the IRS to become involved knee deep in the administration of American healthcare. Already there are some 20,000 pages of regulations governing how, for instance, the IRS will determine if individuals’ insurance coverage is adequate: not you and your family doctor making the decision, but the IRS.
And the scandals rocking President Obama’s administration are finally beginning to, ever so slightly, intrude even into the minds of what Rush Limbaugh appropriately has called the ”low information voters.”
These disgraces within agency after agency of the administration include the “Fast and Furious” gun running outrage into Mexico by the Justice Department, the phone tapping of scores of journalists by the same Justice Department, the ominous IRS pressure through audits upon the Tea Party, including groups with names such as patriot in them, conservative Christian organizations and, in at least one case, a pro-Israel group.
But the big question remains why the State Department and the White House have spun such a web of lies over Benghazi. This infamous and humiliating episode has perplexed many commentators, most of whom saw a political aspect to the cover up. But it could also be a cultural cover up to do with Obama’s protection of Islam.
So what was the reason for “Benghazigate” as it has been called. Was it because Obama was anxious to avoid a political faux pas just weeks before the 2012 election? Was it because Obama wanted desperately to allay suspicions that both he and Hillary Clinton had allowed, through gross ineptitude and negligence, the U.S Ambassador and three other brave Americans to be slaughtered in Benghazi?
Or was it something far more sinister?
Remember that Barack Hussein Obama has proven to be an apologist for Islam, be it radical or moderate. But remember too that the Turkish Prime Minister Recip Erdogan is insulted by such semantic niceties and pointed out that there is no such thing as moderate or immoderate Islam: there is only Islam.
Since Obama’s tenure in office, his strategy has been one of appeasement towards regimes like the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran. His red lines have disappeared into invisible ink. This has shocked and deeply dismayed US allies, including Israel, the Egyptian military, and longtime leaders like Hosni Mubarak in Egypt and Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen. The Obama Administration has purged all references to jihadist Islam or Islamic terrorism from the federal lexicon and fired officials who defied the language ban.
As Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX 1st District), a great American, a great Texan and a person I admire greatly, said at a recent meeting of the David Horowitz Freedom Center in Texas, “… The current FBI counterterrorism lexicon, the language they can use, does not include jihad, does not include Muslim, does not include Islam. It includes violent extremism many times, but it doesn’t include Sharia. It doesn’t include al Qaeda even, Hezbollah, [Hamas]. And even the National Intelligence Strategy 2009 doesn’t include reference to jihad, Muslim, Islam.”
Obama’s seminal years were spent in Indonesia, an Islamic nation now rapidly embracing repressive Sharia law and foisting it upon non-Muslims, especially Buddhists and Christians.
Obama sat with other Muslim children in the madrasses learning Koranic verses. He has said that, “The most beautiful sound in the world is the Islamic call to prayer.” Islam is the one religion for which Obama feels real enthusiasm. His own nominal religion leaves him cold and critical.
Does he believe in the tenets of Christianity or even understand them? “That’s hard to tell,” said the deeply problematic Rev. Jeremiah Wright to Ed Klein who wrote the book, The Amateur. It was Jeremiah Wright who spewed anti-American poison while Obama sat listening and un-protesting in the pews for twenty years.
According to George Neumayr, writing in the August, 2012 edition of The Spectator, “While Obama reveres the Koran — he wouldn’t dare subject it to politically correct revision – but he feels free to mock the Bible as offensive and retrograde. And, Mr. Neumayr goes on to write, “ … Meanwhile, Obama’s allies at atheistic outfits like the ACLU make sure to keep their mouths shut. A cross on a remote hill will trigger a lawsuit from secularists, but a Ramadan dinner in the White House goes unmentioned by them.”
Obama’s first major speech, upon winning the presidency in 2008, was in Cairo, Egypt where his words encouraged the anti-Western and anti-American Muslim Brotherhood to begin the violent and bloody upheaval, which led to the misnamed Arab Spring and to the predictable smothering of anything remotely resembling democracy..
It predictably led to the overthrow of the pro- Western President Hosni Mubarak – hardly a paragon of virtue but nevertheless an Egyptian leader who for 40 or so years had imprisoned many of the Muslim Brotherhood firebrands and kept the peace with Israel.
Similarly, it was Barack Hussein Obama who supported, covertly and overtly, the overthrow of that other Arab leader, Muammar Ghadafi of Libya who also had kept the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaida at bay. And so we have President Obama finding every way possible to deflect American opinion from seeing how merciless and lethal are the Islamic organizations that hate the West, America and Israel, who persecute Christians and wish to ultimately usher in a worldwide Caliphate where Islam dominates all non-Muslims.
That is why the blame for the attack against our consulate in Benghazi, Libya was falsely leveled for far too long at an individual, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, who allegedly made a video hostile to Islam which very, very few people ever saw. Nakoula has now been languishing for months in a US federal prison in Texas for violating the terms of his parole but, as many reporters have noted, the parole violation in question would not generally lead to anything more than a court hearing.
One wonders if he is still in prison all this time to appease Muslim sensibilities. The White House and the State Department conspired to foist a false narrative upon the American public and not announce what they already knew: that the atrocity in Benghazi was the result of premeditated terrorism by Islamic gangs and not as a result of a pathetic video.
Again, there is that tangled web.
