The non-black folks who occupy Hollywood’s higher echelon carry with their fancy cars and palatial estates an unearned sense of racial guilt. Most of those in Hollywood are socialists at heart, and thus can’t reconcile their success with the disproportionate poverty they see around them. They have an especially hard time dealing with the fact that Hollywood is disproportionately non-black. At the same time, these Hollywood stars aren’t willing to give up their (as they perceive it) unearned wealth. Instead, they offer up sorrow for an evil world. They tweet for our sins.

This unearned guilt allows those in Hollywood to feel superior to others, which is, of course, the goal of most of those on the left. Hollywood liberals can avoid participating in productive pursuits to help others by voting Democratic, donating money to Barack Obama, and jabbering about the white heteronormative superstructure that signs their checks.

No wonder, then, that Hollywood went berserk, from top to bottom, over the jury’s acquittal of George Zimmerman for second-degree murder and manslaughter in the killing of Trayvon Martin.

Leading the way were black Hollywoodites, an industry minority,  who preferred to constantly focus on phantom white racism rather than the far more pressing ills of the black community. Ice Cube tweeted, “The Trayvon Martin verdict doesn’t surprise me. Stanford [sic], FL never wanted Zimmerman arrested. Now he’s free to kill another child.” Never mind that Trayvon Martin was a muscular 17-year-old who towered over the clinically obese Zimmerman. Never mind that the evidence tended to show that Martin was on top of Zimmerman pounding his head on sidewalk. The facts don’t matter. Race does.

Busta Rhymes joined the party with this tweet: “#ZIMMERMAN #NOTGUILTY!! GOD GOT A GREATER PUNISHMENT 4 THIS F— BOY THAN THE COURT SYSTEM!! #Staytuned… WE WILL LIVE 2 SEE HIM PAY!!”

So, did others in Hollywood fight back against threats of violence against a man who had just been acquitted in a court of law – and, unlike OJ Simpson, rightly acquitted for lack of evidence?

Of course not. They joined right in. You never have to worry about people disliking you if you’re too busy pandering to them. And in Hollywood, being liked at the cocktail parties is what it’s all about, even if it means you’d prefer an innocent man go to prison. “No justice. No peace,” tweeted empty-headed diva Miley Cyrus. “This is America waddya expect?” tweeted Bill Maher, always ready to take the wrong side. “The only thing u aren’t allowed to kill in an instant is a fetus. Hey Zim, find another hobby now that u won.” Perhaps Maher’s job as political analyst is open, given the fact that Maher is obviously so terrible at it. “If u really believe racism isnt a massive problem, that the oppression of minorities is not a horrific and systemic issue. U R in denial,” tweeted white actress Ellen Page. “No. My heart is with Sybrina Fulton, Rachel Jeantel, everyone who loved Trayvon and has been sent the message that his life didn’t matter,” tweeted Lena Dunham, who apparently had five minutes to spare between performing unwatchable sex scenes.

Not one of these powerful stars felt the necessity to tweet about a single fact of the case. Not one questioned the media’s lying version of what happened. Instead, all of Hollywood took it for granted that a Hispanic member of the neighborhood watch who voted for Obama and mentored black kids hated a black teenager so much he simply decided to kill him. All of Hollywood felt it necessary to label the Sanford Police Department racist. And all of Hollywood felt compelled to inform Americans that they were still representatives of a nasty country filled with closet racists just waiting to ambush young black innocents.

The story of George Zimmerman will never be told on film. No doubt, Hollywood will tell a story about Zimmerman, but it will be a story of white racism and media heroism, of Al Sharpton’s principles and Jesse Jackson’s values and George Zimmerman’s closet cross-burning. All of that will make Hollywood feel better about the fact that it is rich, largely white, and has done nothing for the betterment of the black community.
