MY SAY: A DAY THAT LIVES IN INFAMY
This weekend on December 7th is the 72nd anniversary of the bombing of America’s naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The air forces of Japan, in a devastating surprise attack killed 2400 Americans and injured 1100. they sank four Navy battleships and damaged four more, sank three cruisers, three destroyers and crippled 188 aircraft.
The day after the attack, The United States declared war on Japan and entered World War 11. On September 2, 1945 the Japanese surrendered ending the Pacific war. That was to be the last time that the United States fought a war to win, even at the cost of using overpowering force, and brought the enemy to total surrender.
Japan, a brutal and heartless combatant was pacified, Imperial Shintoism was destroyed and Japan became a democracy and an ally.
There is a lesson that.
