Congress needs to act to protect them and not wait until the entire misadventure plays out. Here’s a plan of action: The people most threatened by […]

GAMALIEL ISAAC: THE TRAVESTY CALLED THE COMMON CORE STANDARDS- PART ONE

http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/obamacore-the-travesty-called-the-common-core-standards-part-i This article is about the travesty called the Common Core Standards.  Its design began before Obama was elected but I and others refer to it as Obamacore because Obama played a major role in imposing it on the country, and like Obamacare it was passed without being read, and it involves centralized data collection […]

Gun Controls: Are You “Reliable”? By Edward Cline

http://ruleofreason.blogspot.com/2013/12/gun-controls-are-you-reliable.html

The U.S. has reached that point in its history that its political state can be credibly compared with that of Weimar Germany, especially in regards to the issue of gun control. The Republic was governed, between 1919 and 1933, by a hodge-podge of political parties, every one of them statist, that is, their iron-clad premise was that the rights and privileges of citizens emanated from the government, and were not inherent. Lip service was paid to a citizen’s liberty. The Weimar government tried to balance these “traditional” rights with the powers the government asserted were necessary to protect the state and “the people.”

Principals of the Weimar government tried to reach a compromise with the most feared and violent of the “new” political parties, first, with the Communists, then with the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP, or the Nazis). The “moderate” and “conservative” principals lost because the Nazis were more consistent in their political philosophy and their ends, which meant total power over the country, or totalitarianism. In fact, the “moderates” and “conservatives” shared many key premises with their enemies, just as the Republicans share them with the Democrats and Progressives today.

In the U.S., “traditional” rights that were recognized as inherent rights possessed by the individual are being ignored, ruled invalid, or superseded and usurped by “Homeland Security” concerns. These genuine rights were expressed and recognized in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Statist policies over the last century or so conflicted with individual rights and will continue to be in conflict. The Democrats and the Republicans are at comparable odds with the Communists and Socialists of the Weimar and the conservative “traditionalists.”

It was the Weimar Reichstag that passed laws that forbade “extremists” from purchasing, owning, or using a variety of firearms. And it was on such legislation that the Nazis later based their own firearms restrictions – and outright bans – to forestall any resistance to the Führer’s and the Party’s will. The Nazis relied more on the Weimar government’s gun control laws than they did on their own laws. Doing so lent the actions of the Nazis an air of legitimacy.

JACK ENGELHARD: IT’S GOOD TO BE JEWISH ON CHRISTMAS OR ANY DAY IN AMERICA

http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/novelists-view-world/2013/dec/9/its-good-be-jewish-christmas-or-any-day-america/#.UqYOR8k2cs0.facebook

Irving Berlin wrote “White Christmas,” the most popular Christmas song of all time. Berlin came from Russia. His original name was Israel Beilin.

Emma Lazarus wrote the sonnet “The New Colossus” that welcomes refugees seeking shelter: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” This is now enshrined in the Statue of Liberty, and remains a beacon to the world. Emma Lazarus was the daughter of Moses and Esther Lazarus.

Biblical Moses, in marble, stands throughout Washington’s government buildings as the model of justice, righteousness and freedom. From Moses in the flesh we have the call from Leviticus that tolls forth from our Liberty Bell: “Proclaim liberty throughout the LAND unto all the inhabitants thereof.”

The Jewish influence upon America is indelible. Upon this good American earth Jews and Christians live in harmony as in few other places. Throughout the generations, Jews overseas packed their bags as swiftly as did Christians to escape prejudice, intolerance and persecution. In so many places outside America it is best to keep silent lest you be overheard and denounced.

This place, America, is the House of Refuge.

The Puritans fled discrimination to embark upon an Exodus of their own. They viewed the Israelites as ancestors. King James I was their Pharaoh. The Atlantic Ocean was their Red Sea. They landed upon this, their New Canaan. Washington was their Moses. John Adams was their Joshua.

REP. ANN KUSTER (D- NEW HAMSHIRE DISTRICT 2) DISPLAYS HER APPALLING IGNORANCE

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/12/viral-video-watch-democratic-rep-ann-kuster-deflect-benghazi-question/

The clip begins with Kuster reading a written question out loud asking for her opinion about House Resolution 36, which would establish a select committee to investigate and report on the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi.

She begins her answer, incorrectly, by telling the audience that the measure is being crafted in the Senate so she doesn’t want to get into a discussion about it.

“Um, I don’t have – uh, it’s a Senate, I think ahhh,” she stammers. “I don’t think we have anything about that in the House.”

Pressed for an answer, Kuster says the forum should stay focused on the Middle East.

“Well, I’m certainly not here to talk about it,” Kuster answers. “We’re here to talk about the Middle East.”

Then, several people in the audience exclaim, “Benghazi is in the Middle East!”

The back-and-forth is then interrupted by a moderator who explains the session’s ground rules again as the video clip ends. The exchange happened on Nov. 25 at the New Hampshire Jewish Federation in Manchester, N.H., where Kuster was to share her experiences from a summer trip to Israel and answer questions on Israel and the Middle East.
