What the report is clumsily getting at is the idea that Islam is legitimate in private practice, but not in public imposition. Unfortunately this distinction has no meaning in Islam which was never rewired to function as a private religion in a secular state.

Sure, at first blush you might think that a baker should be allowed to refuse to bake Halloween-themed treats. But think of the hurt feelings of the witches and warlocks who come in wanting them… and the cost to society.
If Philips can be forced to bake a gay wedding cake… why not a cake with a pentagram on it? Why not a cake that says Allah Akbar or God is Dead?

The New York Times spent a lot of time bringing attention to its story about Dasani, a young girl who is “homeless” in that she lives with her parents and family in a homeless shelter.The article spends a great deal of time describing every aspect of her day, but almost no time talking about her drug addict parents. It does spend a great deal of time blaming Bloomberg and gentrification.
Dasani’s parents are criminals and drug addicts. But it’s Bloomberg’s fault that she lives in a homeless shelter.

Jess – Well said…this author (or useless writer) is low class and shouldnt even be allowed to practice freedom of speech. Hes probably living out in Malibu somewhere!! FREE SYRIAN ARMY, WE HARDLY KNEW YE I’ve said before that the Free Syrian Army is largely a myth. It was initially sold as a secular force of ex-soldiers. It turned out to be a collection of Islamist militias loosely aligned with the FSA in exchange for the expectation of American aid.
If we had backed the FSA, it would have been another useless militarily inept millstone like Abbas’ Fatah forces in the Palestinian Authority or the Afghan military. It would have done very little fighting, but would have spent most of its time reselling American aid.
