MELANIE PHILLIPS: THE MUTT AND JEFF OF THE AMERICAN ADMINISTRATION

melaniephillips.com Is the United States about to become a laughing-stock to the rest of the world? It seems to have accrued a Defence Secretary who is the toast of Iran, and a Secretary of State who is a blithering idiot. It was hard to imagine that the new guy at State, John Kerry, could make […]

THE HAGEL FINAGLE: JERROLD SOBEL

Despite the most inane confirmation performance in recent memory. After embarrassingly stumbling and bumbling through eight hours of straight up questioning, it’s a done deal, Chuck Hagel was confirmed and became the United States 23rd Secretary of Defense on Tuesday. His confirmation became assured this past Thursday, after five term Republican Senator Richard Shelby of […]

American Student Punished For Refusing To Recite Mexican Pledge Of Allegiance…in Texas! Todd Starnes….see note please

Everyone MUST call the school tomorrow. The ONLY way things will change is if HUNDREDS of people call to register their disgust for such blatant disrespect for our beloved country! Don’t sit on your hands and talk about your frustration. ACT!Tomorrow morning, CALL James Ponce, Superintendent of Schools for the McAllen, Texas Independent School District at (956) 618-6027 or the Main Switchboard at 956) 618-6000.

Tell the School Administration that you are offended as an American when an American school does NOT require students to recite OUR Pledge of Allegiance BUT instead requires students to recite the Mexican Pledge of Allegiance.PLEASE do this small action for YOUR country.

Even worse, the same school doesn’t compel students to recite the American Pledge of Allegiance.

A Texas high school student has filed a federal lawsuit against her school and her teachers after she was punished for refusing to salute and recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance.

The Thomas More Law Center filed the suit on behalf of Brenda Brinsdon alleging the McAllen Independent School District violated the 15-year-old girl’s constitutional rights when she was forced to recite the Mexican pledge and sing the Mexican national anthem.

Brinsdon, who is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant and an American father, refused. She believed it was un-American to pledge a loyalty oath to another country.

Ironically, the school district has a policy that prohibits a school from compelling students to recite the American Pledge of Allegiance.

The district also has a written policy that excuses students from reciting text from the Declaration of Independence if the student “as determined by the district, has a conscientious objection to the recitation.”

“There is a sad trend in public schools across our nation to undermine American patriotism,” said Richard Thompson president of the Thomas More Law Center. “But it’s encouraging to see students like Brenda stand up for America despite pressure from school officials.”

The TMLC told Fox News the district ignored its own rules when Brinsdon refused to recite the pledge of a foreign country.

What’s most troubling is the different treatment for someone wanting to opt out of reciting the American Pledge of Allegiance compared to someone as a matter of conscience wants to opt out of reciting the Mexican pledge,” spokesman Erin Mersino told Fox News.

A spokesman for the McAllen Independent School District told Fox News they had not seen a copy of the lawsuit.

Bob Woodward: ‘Very Senior’ White House Official Told Me I’d ‘Regret’ Sequester Comments

BuzzFeed later reported that the official was Gene Sperling, who heads President Obama’s White House Economic Council. Woodward has repeatedly accused the White House of “moving the goal […]

A Rocket from Gaza, and UN as Usual Posted By Claudia Rosett

http://pjmedia.com/claudiarosett/a-rocket-from-gaza-and-un-as-usual/?print=1 Last year, for month after month, as hundreds of rockets from Gaza hit Israel, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, wrote letter after letter [1] to the UN, asking for [2] urgent, serious action to stop this terrorist bombardment. The UN did pretty much nothing. Finally, on Nov. 14, Israel moved to […]

MY SAY: LOSE ONE WIN NONE

So Hagel was not chucked after all and now there is audible hand-wringing and blaming and accusing….namely, the Jews did not do enough to stop him petition, write letters and columns and prayers and so on.

I say they did too much. Hagel does not like Israel….no kidding….that’s the understatement. Hagel does not think America is worth defending anymore and that’s why he is unfit. His views on Israel mirror those of unfit organizations that purport great love and support for Israel. J Street for one. And what peeves me most is the number of anti Hagel Jews who supported and encouraged Israel’s surrender from Gaza. So what harms Israel more? Hagel’s idiotisms or shells landing in Israel from Gaza? Or, the two state solution that places the Jihad dagger at Israel’s throat.?

John Kerry is right. Americans have the right to be stupid. And they exert that right at every turn.

BEYOND THE BELTWAY CONSERVATISM THRIVES:JOHN HOOD

http://www.nationalreview.com/blogs/print/340059

Inauguration Day 2013 was a moment of jubilation for conservatives. After four years of lackluster economic growth and a series of personal and policy mistakes, the incumbent chief executive, a history-making Democrat, was replaced by a conservative with an attractive policy agenda and a skillful campaign team. In a concise, hopeful inaugural address, the newly elected Republican leader of the executive branch promised to focus the administration’s attention and resources on job creation and economic growth in the short run, while setting the stage for long-term solutions to the government’s fiscal woes.

I’m describing the inauguration of Pat McCrory, North Carolina’s first Republican governor in 20 years. His election to replace retiring one-term Democrat Bev Perdue, the state’s first female governor, was one of the few bright spots for the GOP last November, so McCrory got more national attention than the incoming governor of the nation’s tenth-largest state would normally have received.

In general, however, Republican success in state and local politics is an underreported story. It extends far beyond the Tar Heel State. The post-2012 talk of conservatism’s electoral weakness and policy failures is disconnected from the personal experiences of many politicians, journalists, analysts, and activists who work at the state and local levels. While grassroots conservatives were disappointed at the reelection of President Obama and Republican misfires in races for the U.S. Senate, they continue to enjoy unprecedented influence and success in state capitals — while local liberals feel alienated from the governments and institutions they long dominated.

Even after giving up some of their 2010 legislative gains thanks to Obama’s 2012 coattails, Republicans still control more state offices than they have in generations. They hold 30 of 50 state governorships and 58 of 98 partisan legislative chambers. The nonprofit news service Stateline reports that in 25 states, comprising 53 percent of the U.S. population, the GOP controls both the executive and the legislative branch. Only 13 states, with 30 percent of the U.S. population, have unified Democratic governments. In addition, Republicans are strongly represented in local government, albeit primarily at the county level rather than in the increasingly Democratic big cities. In some states, such as my native North Carolina, the GOP’s local success has no modern precedent: A majority of the state’s 100 county governments are now under Republican control, which hasn’t been the case since General Sherman’s army was camped outside Raleigh.

BLOOMBERG STRIKES AGAIN…..BAN STYROFOAM! PHIL KERPEN

http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/341651/bloomberg-bans-again-phil-kerpen Far easier to ban Styrofoam than to deal seriously with the city’s tottering budget. Having already banned smoking and large soft drinks, and taken steps against trans fats and salt, America’s foremost proponent of government control over consumer choices has set his sights on Styrofoam food containers. But don’t worry. “We’re not banning everything!” […]

FRANK SALVATO: THE SEQUESTER, THE CONSTITUTION AND PRESIDENT OBAMA

http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/the-sequester-the-constitution-president-obama?f=puball During the State of the Union Address, we heard the President say how much he disagreed with and abhorred the fast-approaching “sequester”; the budget-hacking debt and deficit measure that an ad hoc committee from both houses of Congress cobbled together so that the federal government could say they did something – at least for […]

‘Alarm to the World’ on Iran’s Nukes Falling on Deaf Ears by LT. COLONEL JAMES G. ZUMWALT, USMC (RET)

http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/alarm-to-the-world-on-irans-nukes-falling-on-deaf-ears With talks scheduled between Iran and the P5+1 nations — China, England, France, Russia, the United State and Germany — on Tehran’s nuclear program, a world leader is expressing urgency the negotiations yield concrete results. Perhaps shaken by the recent test of a nuclear device by North Korea, he fears failure simply allows Tehran […]
