Via CNN:
German authorities have identified 31 people, including 18 asylum-seekers, as suspects in mob sex attacks and muggings in Cologne on New Year’s Eve — one of several such incidents in Europe. In Cologne, where most of the attacks took place, a police spokesman confirmed Chief Wolfgang Albers was fired Friday. Albers’ dismissal comes amid criticism of his department’s handling of the violence.
One victim of the Cologne violence told CNN there were too few police on the streets to prevent attacks.
“We ran to the police. But we saw the police were so understaffed,” the victim said. “They couldn’t take care of us and we as women suffered the price.”
Spiegel Online reported that groups of men prevented officers from reaching those crying out for help.
So much for the plucky “women and orphans” immigrant refugee story.
There may have been as many as a thousand participating in these attacks. They’ve identified 31 so far. Eighteen of them are asylum seekers.
Remember, you’re a hateful racist if your response to that is, “I was worried about that.”
Let’s take this out of the realm of Islam and terrorism and just talk about refugees and immigration. The thing that’s never at the forefront of discussions about illegal immigration in America is the violence that we import by opening our arms to whomever Mexico is illegally exporting northward. As someone who once lived 12 blocks from the Mexican border and has spent his entire life living within a couple hundred miles of it, I can assure you it’s been an ongoing concern for decades.
The discussion, however, always revolves against the good people who need to flee horrible lives. They obviously should not be discounted. However, until mechanisms are in place to vet refugees/immigrants to the nth degree in these situations, a rational, responsible nation shouldn’t let people just flood across its borders.
Safety has to be prioritized over heartstrings. If a thousand people aren’t properly screened and just one of them is going to behead or rape someone, all the sad stories in the world don’t matter, unless the one is an anomaly.
18 out of 31 isn’t an anomaly.
