Dr. Robin McFee:Putin… Hillary’s lame excuse for losing
http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/putin-hillarys-lame-excuse-for-losing?f=must_reads
To be blunt, it is idiotic to think Putin would prefer Trump over Hillary as the 45th President of the United States…. Especially since Americans didn’t even want Hillary as POTUS, ever the contrarian, he would have likely wanted her to win.
Putin is an opportunist, and agent provocateur, not an ally or proponent of a strong America. Consider Putin’s track record….
- Aligned and armed our adversaries
- Blackmails Europe bartering heat for compliance
- Invader of sovereign nations (Georgia [Bush presidency], Ukraine [Obama])
- Grabbing much of the Arctic, including Santa’s Village
- Challenger to NATO
Putin is many things – and as I’ve warned over the last 8 years, mostly dangerous, especially to US interests. Putin has made no secret in lamenting (and thus trying to reverse) the fall of the Soviet Union. He will kill, invade, negotiate, intimidate and manipulate to reach his objectives. He has made no secret that Russian interests and global petroleum are interrelated and on his radar screen; no drop of oil, or puff of gas, or LNG ship or pipeline, or transit hub escape his interests or appetite. He has made no secret Russia will be a force to be reckoned with. Remilitarizing and rebuilding alliances, especially with unsavory folks who counter our interests have been part of his efforts for nearly a decade, and without significant pushback from this Administration. The rise of Russia is real, their internal problems, questionable human rights issues, and economic roller coaster notwithstanding. Russia is the agent provocateur in the Middle East, with a growing presence in the Med, and strong ties with Iran and Syria. Russian influence is tenuous but growing in Turkey, and Tel Aviv has not ignored Moscow, nor has Putin ignored Netanyahu.
Then consider how Putin has achieved these under our national noses…President Obama as leader of the US has made it very, very, very easy for the Russian president to forward an aggressive and aggressor agenda. Given Hillary Clinton was part of the Obama Administration – the Secretary of State and titular leader of our foreign policy – a policy that left an international leadership void Putin could exploit. Clinton, as Secretary of State on her first major interaction with Russia, besides the sophomoric stunt of bringing a toy to the meeting, couldn’t even inspire her team to translate “Reset” in Russian correctly. Clinton couldn’t come up with a significant foreign policy win for our great nation. Her record was uninspiring.
Against this backdrop, it then boggles the mind that Putin would not go Pavlovian at the potential for such an ineffective adversary as Hillary Clinton. Putting it another way, it is ludicrous to think Putin would prefer a potential hawk with the motto “Make America Great” to become the next POTUS – Russia’s chief rival – when he could have had a member of the “Make America Ordinary” team as our next leader.
But the narrative that Putin and his FSB tampered with our election has been manna from Heaven for the left, and Obama, and a supportive media only too happy to further the notion that Trump’s victory is illegitimate. Moreover the Putin story allows media attention to drift from real issues – like Iran’s growing missile program, or the threats to our allies, or our failing cities, or growing poverty class or, well you get the idea – all worsened under Obama. That Obama’s commitment to use FBI resources to investigate the potential criminality going on against Hillary is laughable, considering our outgoing President undermined the investigation of true potential criminal acts by Hillary…her alleged selling access and influence, and her alleged careless handling of state secrets. It might be nice if the media refocused on real issues affecting Main Street USA, and our military….Obama has bigger problems to address that might actually mean something to the lives of most Americans….like investigating how some IRS leaders forced a normally unbiased agency to target conservatives, or how the Veteran’s Administration remains probably the single most corrupt federal institution for the last, oh say decade or more… the ineffectiveness of which has directly and indirectly resulted in dead veterans, dead Americans.
Let’s also consider that the US has been hacked MANY times, including the Pentagon, by none other than Russia and China – all on Obama’s watch. His response up to this point has been typical – deflection, dismissal, basically his usual cavalier approach to securing our national interests. If the outgoing POTUS really cared about our cyber security, he would have listened to experts who have consistently warned about online recruiting of lone wolf terrorists, our vulnerable energy grid, our vulnerable national secrets, and our vulnerable infrastructure. Joel Brenner formerly of the NSA is but one serious player who has warned against digital warfare against our nation for many years. That Hillary was hacked (there’s an irony there), this is now a national security issue because she lost the election, and not because state secrets might have been taken?
To be sure, Putin’s team will continue to hack, infect and tamper with our cyber interests.
As for Hillary, this latest craziness in what has probably been the most bizarre election in contemporary US history has probably been therapeutic for her – a reason beyond her inadequacies for losing. Now she can rationalize there had to be outside forces for her loss, which must be providing a respite for her campaign team who have likely been pilloried since November.
Being fair, Hillary is an intelligent woman, an accomplished woman. But while folks recognize wealth is protective, there are limits to how much we tolerate the rules don’t apply to people…there is a point where even rabid partisans have to wonder at the level of alleged corruption.
Madam Secretary there was a reason you lost to Trump. You were not a great candidate! Many Americans ignored your foreign policy failures…..Libya, Syria, Iran, ISIS, the Arab Spring, the Arctic, on and on, but they couldn’t ignore your “what difference does it make” callousness towards Benghazi. People didn’t trust you, and many recognized you didn’t really care about them; you didn’t even deign to campaign with “the folks” unless it was orchestrated. You expected to win, and felt it was your due. We felt that sense of entitlement. Making matters worse….You shared a pale vision how to improve our lives (that we actually believed) because ultimately you supported Obama, and his policies, which have been part of the reason many Americans, and our national interests, are worse off than 2008. Trump was everywhere. You were invisible. Trump fought political parties – enterprises main stream America increasingly rejects and doubts, while you coat-tailed on the DNC. Bernie, a cranky, socialist, curmudgeon generated more buzz than you by a country mile, and many Democrats felt betrayed when the Senator got hosed so you could be on the ticket. In spite of a machine behind you, a fortune spent on you and the media in the tank for you, you lost.
Final thoughts…Mrs. Clinton… you were a Senator, and a Secretary of State….not a bad run! As for this election, you lost, it is over. America voted. Trump won. You can either use your talents and influence to try and help our nation, and fellow citizens, or you can be a sore loser. How you handle this may ultimately define your legacy, and how you are remembered. In the meantime, it is Christmas….enjoy the Holidays, celebrate the amazing life, the great blessings, and the family you are privileged to have. And please, abandon the lame excuse that Putin made you lose. He didn’t.
