It’s time to admit that the Women’s March is a misnomer; it should be called Women Democrats Marching to Impeach Our President. As a collective of many far-left organizations, including Black Lives Matter, the Arab-American Association of New York (headed by Linda Sarsour who favors sharia law), the National Action Network (founded by Al Sharpton), The Gathering for Justice (founded by Harry Belafonte) and Jews for Racial and Economic Justice – a group concerned with the “occupation of Palestine,” Islamophobia and freedom of speech for BDS on campus. The March is the indirect recipient of some of the 246 million dollars donated by George Soros to 100 of the Women’s March Partners.
Nearly 200,000 people joined the NY March last weekend, many holding adolescent, scatological signs and banners defiantly above their pink pussy hats. Hard to imagine intelligent women being comfortable joining with their vulgarity. The organizers of the March claimed to be protesting Republican policies on abortion, immigration, the LGBTQIA community and the environment. Let’s look at just two of these – abortion and immigration.
Abortion has been legal in the U.S. since 1973. It has been on the decline since 1990 when it peaked at 1,429,247; the most current statistic available is for 2013 when the number was 644,435 out of 75.4 million women of eligible childbearing age – in other words, an abortion rate of 9 tenths of 1 percent. By contrast, the rate of female genital mutilation (FGM) in the U.S. has tripled since 1990. It has been illegal in this country since 1996 but since 1990, there have been an estimated 500,000 girls and women in the U.S. who have undergone the procedure or are at current risk. The majority are immigrants from Egypt, Ethiopia and Somalia where 3/4 of all girls and women have been victims of cutting that has no health benefits and exists only as a grotesque means of male control by destroying the female ability to derive pleasure from sex.
None of the marchers addressed their attention to this subject which goes to the core of women’s issues – protection from male violence. James Franco may have demanded more than his companion wished to offer but he never damaged her vital parts. None of the many miscreant men called out by #METOO went so far as to lift a knife to a clitoris. One of the organizers of the Women’s March is a Muslim woman wearing a hijab who is certainly familiar with the danger of this custom that has no religious significance, yet Linda Sarsour has not urged American women to speak out about this, nor have other celebrated feminists mentioned it. Is there an issue more vital to the well-being of women than being protected from mutilation?
In 2016, there were 84.3 million immigrants and their American born children representing 27% of our population. Nearly 1.2 million of them were from the Middle East and No. Africa, a 36% increase since 2010. 70% of these were from Iraq, Lebanon and Egypt – the country most associated with FGM. Most arrested illegal immigrants come from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras – in 2017, they numbered 162,000. 92% of those arrested by ICE had previous criminal convictions and there were 847 assaults against agents at ports and along the border. Since the U.S.
continues to import about a million legal immigrants a year, it’s difficult to understand what the women are protesting. For themselves, women want more fairness now – in salaries earned, in job promotion, in allowance for contraception and maternity benefits – all understandable and worthy causes. What about fairness for legal immigrants who go through all the proper procedures, file all the necessary papers and patiently await their turn to be admitted? Do women feel no empathy for those who play by the rules? Shouldn’t this be most fundamental for the sex that bears the children, does most of the child-rearing and teaches our children the civilizing precepts of fair play?
One can only wonder how many Jewish marchers understand that Black Lives Matter accuses Israel of being an apartheid state that practices genocide against Palestinians. How many know that intersectionality demands that oppressed minorities stand together so that Black Lives Matter also supports Students for Justice for Palestine, an outgrowth of American Muslims for Palestine, a group that financed Hamas, the terrorist organization condemned by our own government and dedicated to the goal of destroying the Jewish state.
As long as people can rant at Trump and believe that they are supporting underdogs, there will be an ongoing display of self-righteous posturing, seasoned with vulgarity and camaraderie with some of the most anti-semitic groups in America while the billionaire eminence grise , dedicated to undermining this nation, smiles contentedly behind them.
