Down With Kang Jong-Un! Pushing back against UCLA diversity dictator Jerry Kang.

UCLA’s Vice Chancellor for Equity Diversity and Inclusion is a specialist in “implicit bias” theory but shows a distinct preference for politically correct groups of the Left. Meanwhile, professors of a certain ethnicity and conservative political profile are ostracized for championing free speech. Even their staff and student supporters come under fire.

As a UCLA student, Keith Fink won a national debating championship defending the proposition that “illegal aliens” are inimical to the United States. Today, as he noted in his recent video, that would be a “microaggression,” that would trigger warnings and of course be “summarily dismissed.” The way UCLA dismissed Fink should serve up a warning to students, parents and policymakers alike.

UCLA teaching assistant Justin Gelzhiser, a PhD candidate, wrote a letter in defense of Fink. After Fink’s departure, longtime communications department manager Jane Bitar told Gelhizer he was the subject of a sexual harassment complaint. As he told the Daily Bruin, they would report the claim to the Title IX office if he didn’t leave his teaching position. The department, Gelhizer said, “wanted to get rid of me because they had just got rid of Fink.”

The Title IX department did investigate the harassment claim, which turned out to have some existential problems. Fink called it “a fiction” and notes that Bitar also violated the mandatory reporting requirements. For that lapse, she would suffer no consequences.

Bitar opted to retire and UCLA sweetened the departure with the Chancellor’s Excellence in Service Award and $4,000. Bitar posed with the award beside a smiling Jerry Kang. Like Fay Wray (1933) and Jessica Lange (1976), King Kang had the lady in the palm of his hand. At UCLA just about everybody does what the mighty Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion wants them to do.

Keith Fink believes Jerry Kang is a very smart guy but also “a demagogue,” and his supposedly scientific implicit bias theory means only that whites are biased. So the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is not very inclusive of those with different views. As Fink says, “your whole career can go up in smoke when Jerry Kang investigates.”

To get a promotion, Fink explains, professors now have to submit an EDI statement showing what they have done for equity, diversity and inclusion. For Fink, this is nothing more than an “ideological screening test.” Kang is not interested in merit and will “brook no opposition,” in his purge campaigns. Under his supposedly inclusive regime, Fink says, UCLA has a “big board of the white male teachers they are looking to nail.”  He didn’t name names but the potential victims doubtless know who they are.

With his whopping $444,000 salary and $4 million budget, King Kang has the troops and weapons in place and the casualties are starting to pile up. So it’s “worse than a scam,” says Fink, who would like to see Kang’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion department abolished. State law is on his side.

The 1996 voter-approved California Civil Rights Initiative, Proposition 209, barred UCLA from using racial and ethnic preferences in favor of anyone and also against anyone. Trouble is, UC boss Janet Napolitano does prefer students on the basis of ethnicity. And like Kang, Napolitano seems unaware that the American free-speech zone includes the entire country.

So beleaguered students and professors can’t look to the UC president for help. Incoming governor Gavin Newsom, a progressive Democrat, won’t lend a hand, and neither will California Senators Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris.

Meanwhile, whatever his claims about diversity, inclusion and “mind science,” UCLA vice chancellor Jerry Kang is all about ideological cleansing on campus.

“I’m disappointed that I’m not able to teach anymore,” says Keith Fink, and he regards his dismissal as a “loss to UCLA students.” He now has his own nonprofit and is still determined to “fight for the students.” They might keep a few realities in mind.

Political correctness and junkthought are now inherent in the UC system, which is also reactionary. As they bulk up on useless diversity bureaucrats, the University of California has been jacking up tuition.

When students protest, campus cops blast them with pepper spray, and as the Los Angeles Times noted, spend big money to cover up internet reporting of the abuse. Despite state law, the University of California gives preference on the basis of race and ethnicity. The UC also prefers to discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, political beliefs. The UC comforts those who support Jew hate, and attacks those who criticize the haters, even with a simple poster.

Debate champion Keith Fink taught students to push back, and UC students have plenty to push back against. They should use their free-speech rights to protest on campus, at UC Regents meetings, and even take it to the streets. Remember, the American free-speech zone includes the entire country.

Those on the outside should give the students all the support they need and deserve. In 2019 and beyond, the nation could use a new student movement based on basic American values.
