Biden Administration’s Dangerous Immigration Policies Demonstrate Orwellian “Doublethink” By Michael W. Cutler
George Orwell defined doublethink as, “The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.”
Politicians traditionally put a “spin” on what they say, and how they say it. This is why most folks look askance at politicians and the promises that they make.
George Orwell, in point of fact, said, “Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.”
For quite some time these linguistic gymnastics were written off as being examples of “political correctness.” I have consistently resisted the use of the term political correctness (PC), because it creates the deceptive appearance that misleading language is used out of a desire to be considerate.
In reality, such misuse of language generally has a far more sinister motivation, to mislead folks by manipulating language to create propaganda and misinformation. Because people think with words, control of language is actually thought control. Consequently the so-called “PC Police” should be properly referred to as the “Thought Police,” another of Orwell’s creations.
This tactic is unacceptable and incongruous for freedom-loving Americans.
Such manipulation is no less dangerous than was the use of Newspeak that was devised by George Orwell in his novel 1984.
Now the Biden administration is employing yet another Orwell creation, “doublethink,” in a number of critical areas, particularly immigration.
While the Biden administration has mandated that all members of the U.S.armed forces be vaccinated to ostensibly limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus and the Delta variant, the Biden administration has simultaneously released hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens into the United States who were not vaccinated and indeed, many are infected with that dreaded virus.
While the Biden administration, pressures the states to re-implement mask requirements and requires aliens who are lawfully entering the United States to provide proof that they have been vaccinated, we must again consider how many illegal aliens have been permitted to enter the United States, and then moved around the United States with the assistance of the U.S. Border Patrol as was reported on July 24, 2021 by Fox News, Border migrants dropped off at bus stations as authorities struggle to cope: More than 188,000 migrants were encountered in June alone.
Here is how that Fox News Report begins: Bus loads of migrants are being dropped off at bus stations in McAllen, Texas with bus tickets to go to their chosen destinations — amid new reports that authorities are struggling to cope with the backlog of migrants being allowed into the U.S.
Footage captured by Fox News in the Rio Grande Valley shows Border Patrol dropping off bus-loads of migrants at McAllen Central Bus Station, where they are given bus tickets to travel out of town after they are processed and released from custody with notices to appear at a court or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility.
In a followup article published on July 31st Fox News reported, Border Patrol union official warns COVID-positive migrants being released into US ‘day in, day out’.
We mustn’t lose sight of the critical mission of the U.S. Border Patrol that has serious implications for national security, public safety and public health by preventing the entry and embedding of illegal aliens in the United States that is now being largely subverted by the Biden administration as these agents are re-deployed to essentially serve as the final element of a historically huge human trafficking operation in apparent violation of 8 U.S. Code § 1324 (bringing in and harboring certain aliens).
The Biden administration, since taking office, has made ample use of the tactics described in Orwell’s 1984 and is now using double talk and doublethink, to accomplish what would have been previously unthinkable, particularly in this especially challenging and perilous era, undermining border security and the effective and fair enforcement of our nation’s immigration laws.
