Disgraced EcoHealth Alliance Should Be Banished To Wuhan, But Fauci Just Gave It Millions More Tax Dollars By: Evita Duffy
EcoHealth Alliance should have been disbanded two years ago, Peter Daszak should have been fired, and Anthony Fauci should be in exile.
EcoHealth Alliance, Peter Daszak’s nonprofit that infamously funneled funds into the Wuhan Institute of Virology for the bat-based coronaviruses research that is suspected of starting the Covid-19 pandemic, has just been awarded another grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
And this new grant is once again slated for bat-based coronavirus research. The grant, issued on Sept. 21, is designated for “Analyzing the potential for future bat coronavirus emergence in Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam,” and was given specifically by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NAID), a branch of the NIH still being run by Anthony Fauci until his upcoming retirement.
The first installment of the grant is for $653,392 and is part of a five-year plan to give the nonprofit a total of $3.3 million. The grant was given the same day the NIAID granted EcoHealth “more than $2.1 million for two more ongoing studies, one of which involves so-called ‘gain-of-function’ to make viruses more dangerous,” according to the New York Post.
Under the Trump administration, EcoHealth Alliance was defunded of taxpayer dollars. Now, after miraculously avoiding massive public backlash following its 2020 defunding, it appears the organization is back in business and carrying on as normal.
It is shocking, first, that Ecohealth Alliance still exists and, second, that it is still receiving massive taxpayer-supported grants. Even more unbelievable is the fact that Daszak continues to be the president of Ecohealth.
Daszak’s career as president of EcoHealth has been fraught with secrecy and corruption. Despite his suspected involvement in the presumed lab leak and coverup, he was chosen to be the only U.S. member of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) delegation of investigators to travel to China to probe the origins of the virus. The Chinese Communist Party, which has notoriously silenced and disappeared doctors and journalists who tried uncovering the truth of the virus’s origins, pre-approved Daszak to represent the United States.
And why wouldn’t it? Daszak was denouncing the lab leak theory long before he ever left for China, which makes sense given it was his organization that funded the research many believe spawned the lab leak and therefore launched a global pandemic.
Upon Daszak’s return from the WHO investigation, he dismissed the lab leak hypothesis, claiming he saw no evidence of a Chinese cover-up. His proof? He admitted he took Chinese lab workers at their word when they denied a lab leak ever took place.
According to the GOP House Energy and Commerce Committee, Daszak has failed to comply with requests from committee Republicans in their investigation into the origins of Covid-19.
Last Friday, Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, introduced the “Defund EcoHealth Alliance Act,” which would prohibit the nonprofit from receiving any federal funds. In a statement Monday, Energy And Commerce Committee GOP Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers said: “EcoHealth Alliance and Peter Daszak should not be getting a dime of taxpayer funds until they are completely transparent. Period. This is madness.”
While Ernst’s bill and Rodgers’ fiery rhetoric are much needed, the real question remains: How was EcoHealth even under consideration for more taxpayer funds in the first place? EcoHealth Alliance should have been disbanded two years ago, and Fauci, the man who approved the grant, should have been fired. Instead, Fauci, who somehow still has a job at the NIH, reportedly almost doubled his net worth, which now exceeds $12.6 million, during the Covid panic.
Inaction Emboldens More Bad Behavior
Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance research has a shady, dangerous, and potentially deadly track record. It is an outrage that his organization is still receiving massive grants courtesy of taxpaying Americans. It is also an outrage that Fauci, whose anti-science Covid politics destroyed livelihoods and lives, has enriched himself off the suffering Americans he oppressed. Unfortunately, this level of greed and hubris is the result of lawmakers and corporate media neglecting their duty to hold powerful bureaucrats to account.
This isn’t the first time such negligence has led to gross abuse of government power. The Russia hoax was one of the greatest government scandals in American history. The FBI fabricated evidence that it then used to obtain a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. With the dishonestly obtained warrant, the FBI spied on the Trump campaign while top bureau officials illegally leaked information about the investigation to the press.
The illegal intelligence gathered on Trump was used to wage the exhausting and futile Robert Mueller investigation. Essentially, the FBI attempted to stage a coup against the duly elected president, yet outcry was mixed from the right and non-existent from the left. Meanwhile, corporate media peddled the hoax wholesale. And from the moment the FBI’s deceit was revealed, congressional Republicans should have taken measures to immediately downsize and even abolish the corrupt agency.
Instead, the agency has been allowed to grow in strength and has become increasingly emboldened in weaponizing its power against the American people. This May, the FBI launched investigations into “domestic terrorist” parents who expressed concerns at local school board meetings. Then in August, the bureau raided the Mar-a-Lago home of former President Donald Trump, and it’s currently targeting a handful of the former president’s advisers and outspoken supporters, such as Rudy Giuliani, Peter Navarro, Jeff Clark, and Mike Lindell.
It seems a new report of FBI malfeasance rolls in every other week. Three weeks ago, a whistleblower came forward alleging that the FBI is moving its agents off of child sexual abuse cases to instead pursue its Jan. 6 witch hunt. Most recently, the agency targeted a pro-life activist and Catholic father of seven Mark Houck, who was arrested by what his wife described as a swarm of 25 to 30 FBI agents — for alleged “FACE Act” violations — at his home while his traumatized children looked on “screaming.”
The FBI doesn’t only threaten its political adversaries. It is actively interfering in American elections, defiling our most sacred democratic process. Indeed, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that the FBI interfered in the 2020 election by preemptively branding the Hunter Biden laptop story as Russian disinformation for Facebook (and likely other platforms) to censor.
Today’s scandals are on a level far beyond anything that took place inside the Watergate building. And their effects ripple far beyond the United States, given how people worldwide were harmed by the Wuhan virus. All the while, corporate media and Big Tech not only cover for the regime, but they often encourage its bad behavior.
FBI malfeasance, Fauci’s gross enrichment scheme, EcoHealth Alliance’s ludicrous grant, and Peter Daszak’s CCP-sympathetic “investigation” should be front-page news. Media scrutiny, public outcry, and congressional oversight should lead to firings and a lifetime of shame. But instead, these bad actors are emboldened, drunk on power, and living the high life — and one of them just got a multimillion-dollar grant funded by you.
