Fauci B.C. Long before COVID, the seeds of the pandemic were already in the ground. By Lloyd Billingsley

The FBI has for quite some time now assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan,” explains FBI Director Christopher Wray. “Here you are talking about a potential leak from a Chinese government-controlled lab,” and from the first case of COVID-19 in the United States in January 2020, adds Wray, China has tried to “thwart and obfuscate” investigations into the origin of the pandemic.

Last month, the U.S. Department of Energy concluded that the COVID-19 pandemic began with a leak from a laboratory in China. But Dr. Anthony Fauci didn’t think so.

While repeating the claim that he has an open mind, Fauci sticks to the natural origin theory and charges that his critics, especially those who have called for him to be prosecuted, are “off the deep end.” That invites a deep dive on Fauci, all the way to the bottom.

Born in 1940, Anthony Fauci earned a medical degree in 1966 but if he ever practiced medicine it was only for a short time. In 1968, to avoid treating wounded GIs in military hospitals, Fauci took a cushy “yellow beret” job with the National Institutes of Health. Fauci’s bio showed no advanced degrees in biochemistry or molecular biology, but in 1984 the NIH made Fauci director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

Back in the 1990s Nobel laureate Kary Mullis, inventor of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR),  said Fauci “doesn’t understand electron microscopy and he doesn’t understand medicine. He should not be in a position like he’s in.” In other words, Fauci was unqualified, and it showed in his handling of AIDS.

French medical scientist Luc Montagnier, a Nobel laureate, discovered the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which Fauci claimed was the sole cause of AIDS.  HIV, Fauci claimed,  overexcites some immune signaling pathways, while eluding the detection of others. And though the main target of the virus appears to be the famed helper T-cells, or CD-4 cells, which it can infiltrate and kill, the virus also ends up stimulating the response of other immune cells so inappropriately that they eventually collapse from overwork or confusion.

This claim caught the attention of molecular biologist Charles A. Thomas, Ph.D., who had served as professor of biological chemistry at Harvard and professor of biophysics at Johns Hopkins. Thomas also chaired the cellular biology department at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California.

Thomas and his colleagues were the first to demonstrate that virus particles contained a single molecule of nucleic acid. His work showed that viral DNA molecules were terminally repetitious, beginning and ending with the same sequence of nucleotides. Thomas’ work also centered on the unusual structures formed by telomeric DNA sequences.

Thomas was also an associate of Peter Duesberg, author of Inventing the AIDS Virus, and Kary Mullis, who earned his doctorate at UC Berkeley. After hearing Fauci’s take on HIV, Thomas and Mullis responded that “no other virus is credited with such a dazzling repertoire of destructive skills.” HIV was “a conventional retrovirus with a very simple genetic organization.” In other words, Fauci had no clue what he was talking about.

The NIAID boss did not engage in debate with Mullis, Thomas, and others who challenged the HIV hypothesis. Fauci’s favored treatment for AIDS was AZT (azidothymidine), a highly toxic DNA chain terminator sold as Zidovudine.

Christine Grady touts AZT in The Search for an AIDS Vaccine: Ethical Issues in the Development and Testing of a Preventive HIV Vaccine, released in 1995. The author, a nurse with the National Institutes of Health, also justifies drug experiments with pregnant women and children. The nurse mentions Fauci, without revealing that she had been married to the NIAID boss for 10 years. If anybody thought that was deliberate deception it would be hard to blame them.

Fauci predicted that AIDS would ravage the broader populace, but as Michael Fumento showed in The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS, that never happened. Fauci remained at the helm of NIAID and moved on to other failures, as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. explains in The Real Anthony Fauci.

The NIAID boss, responsible for the development of vaccines, became fascinated with gain-of-function research, which according to the NIH Office of Science Policy, has “the potential to enhance the pathogenicity or transmissibility of potential pandemic pathogens (PPPs)” and has thus “raised biosafety and biosecurity concerns.”

In 2012, Fauci wondered “what if that scientist becomes infected with the virus, which leads to an outbreak and ultimately triggers a pandemic?” That same year, the NIH named Christine Grady chief of the department of bioethics for the NIH Health Clinical Center, with no mention that she had been married to Fauci for nearly 30 years. At that time, opposition to gain-of-function research had been mounting.

“Enhancing potential pandemic pathogens in this manner is simply not worth the risk,” Harvard’s Marc Lipsitch told The Lancet. In 2014, the NIH decided to suspend funding for gain-of-function studies involving influenza, MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV.

Gain of function was revived in 2017, over the objections of many medical scientists.

In January 2017, Fauci said there was “no doubt” President Trump would be confronted with a surprise infectious disease. As the NIAID boss put it, “We will definitely get surprised in the next few years.”

Fauci went on to fund gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) controlled by China’s Communist Party, associated with their biological weapons development, and off-limits to any accountability by the United States. In addition to American funding, the WIV was also amply supplied with exotic research material.

China and Viruses: The Case of Dr. Xiangguo Qiu, a January 2020 paper by Israeli biologist Dr. Dany Shoham, revealed that Dr. Qiu shipped a cargo of deadly pathogens to the WIV. The shipment included: Ebola Makona, Mayinga, Kikwit, Ivory Coast, Bundibugyo, Sudan Boniface, Sudan Gulu, MA-Ebov, GP-Sudan, Hendra, Nipah Malaysia and Nipah Bangladesh.

This deadly cargo came from Canada’s National Microbiology Lab (NML) in Winnipeg, where Qiu, a Chinese national, ran the special pathogens program. In 2017 and 2018, Qiu made at least five trips to the WIV.

As Fauci predicted, President Trump did get surprised by an infectious disease. In early 2020, Fauci opposed Trump’s ban on flights from China and was careful to compliment China on its handling of the outbreak. So did Dr. Nancy Messonier, whose press telebriefings in early 2020 were essentially a repetition of China’s talking points about the “novel virus” spreading across the land.

In the quest to “stop the spread,” as Julie Kelly recalls, Fauci turned the nation into a “dystopian hellscape” with lockdowns and such. He pushed vaccines that failed to prevent infection or spread of the virus, but which the doctor recommended for children under the age of four. Remember, Fauci’s wife Christine Grady, bioethics boss at the NIH, approves of drug trials with children and pregnant women.

Fauci maintained that the virus emerged naturally in the wild, and pressured those who saw evidence of a lab origin to change their position. Dr. Robert Redfield, formerly head of the Centers for Disease Control, got death threats for expressing the view that the COVID coronavirus leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China.

The FBI and other government agencies now see evidence of a laboratory origin, most likely in China. This is as serious as it gets, and members of Congress should be keeping a few things in mind.

Biden’s call for the intelligence community to investigate should be taken lightly. The agency that needs investigation is the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS), the division of the CDC responsible for keeping epidemics from arriving on American soil. With COVID, the EIS is guilty of a colossal failure, and the people need to know why.

They might get some answers from Nancy Messonnier, who began her career as an EIS officer. Messonnier was proclaimed a “true hero” and mysteriously retired from the CDC in May 2021. Fauci, who claims to represent science, remained at the helm until the end of 2022.

Fauci says he’ll cooperate with an investigation and Congress should take him up on it.

Another witness to call is Dr. Gary Kobinger, formerly a colleague and staunch defender of Xiangguo Qiu, who transported all those pathogens to the WIV. Kobinger is now director of the Galveston National Laboratory (GNL) established by Fauci’s NIAID.

The GNL focuses on “understanding transmission and pathogenesis of emerging viruses and developing medical countermeasures for dangerous pathogens that can be weaponized.” GNL research is “funded by NIAID, the U.S Department of Defense, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and prevention, and other federal agencies, as well as academic partners, private foundations and the biopharmaceutical industry.”

Maybe Kobinger knows something about the origin of COVID that has yet to be revealed. A good opening question for Kobinger, Fauci, Messonnier, and all witnesses, would be: “Has the People’s Republic of China ever done anything with which you disagreed?” People all over the world have a right to know.
