I’m no fan of late night comedy or even comedians for that matter, although years ago I did find something in George Carlin’s act to admire.
Carlin, though born into an Irish Catholic family, mocked religious belief as a stand-up comedian and claimed that he didn’t believe in God.
Despite this personal failing, Carlin, who died in 2008 — way before woke comedians became afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome — was never predictable as a comedian.
He never had much to say about Donald Trump, either, aside from his 1998 comment that he thought the man was a “rat” (he compared him to hotel mogul Leona Helmsley), yet at the same time Carlin insisted that Trump made “his life more interesting.”
Hilarious and unpredictable comedians are now a rare breed, thanks mainly to the spread of wokeness in comedy.
In comedy clubs throughout the country, you can no longer make jokes about gay people, trans people, feminists, the Asian predilection for gambling and casinos, mentally retarded or developmentally disabled people, blacks or handicapped people without that coming across as hate speech — although a talented comedian should be able to find something funny in all the aforementioned groups (and their behaviors) without that coming across as an incitement to organize a lynch mob.
As a result, we have a new brand of play-it-safe comedians who take the pulse of Hollywood and then manufacture “comedy” that conforms to the likes and dislikes of the woke mob. And so we have Jimmy Kimmel — an unfunny 56-year-old Irish Catholic from Brooklyn who has become a Hollywood favorite for demonizing Republicans and in particular targeting Donald Trump.
The venal comedian — who, by the way, struggles with narcolepsy but puts American viewers of late-night TV to sleep — shows no signs that he’s going to be less political going forward.
His partisan political “humor” goes back at least to 2011 when Huff Post published a Jimmy Kimmel Live video of the comic talking with kids about the upcoming 2012 presidential election. Kimmel asks the small group of kids under the age of 10, “What’s the difference between Democrats and Republicans?”
These being Los Angeles kids — little wokesters who still haven’t lost all their baby teeth — it’s easy to guess what comes next.
One obviously coached young boy raises his hand and declares, “A Democrat is someone who wants a government to help people. A Republican is somebody who doesn’t want to.”
Huff Post in fact has framed many of Kimmel’s anti-Republican rants into articles, often accompanied by videos, including one from 2018 about Kimmel’s public feud with Sean Hannity because of the Fox News host’s support for Trump.
The feud began when Hannity called Kimmel a “despicable disgrace” for ridiculing Melania Trump’s accent and her grasp of the English language (the former First Lady is actually fluent in five languages, including English; how many does Kimmel speak?).
Kimmel responded, perversely enough, by tweeting that Hannity has had an ongoing erection for Trump ever since he became president.
But this is what shanty Irish, back-of-the-bus bullies do. They specialize in personal attacks, and if they have secret and/or latent sexual issues, they’ll project that onto their victim.
“When your clown makeup rubs off on Trump’s ass, does it make his butt look like a Creamsicle?” Kimmel tweeted on April 6, 2018.
After another Hannity tweet, Kimmel responded, “Don’t worry – just keep tweeting – you’ll get back on top! (or does Trump prefer you on bottom?) Either way, keep your chin up big fella.”
Sophomoric humor at its worst.
The causes that hypocritical progressives like Kimmel claim to support (such as the LGBTQ movement) go out the window when it comes to smearing a conservative opponent as gay.
The feud between Hannity and Kimmel didn’t stop there. Hannity revived a skit from Comedy Central’s The Man Show in which Kimmel actually asked different women to touch his crotch, and titled it “Harvey Weinstein Jr.”
So here we have Kimmel thinking it cool to do a comedy sketch about touching all the women he can while getting on Trump’s case for his infamous “Grab ’em” statement.
Kimmel later apologized for this bit, but only because the mood of the culture is decidedly pro-LGBTQ. What other choice did he have? Lose his Hollywood audience if the true (homophobic) Kimmel were revealed? His apology was like putting lipstick on a pig — he’s still Kimmel underneath.
Recently, Kimmel made headlines when he read aloud a Trump Truth Social post at the end of this year’s Oscar ceremonies. He wasn’t supposed to read the post on air. In fact, the comedian promised producers he wouldn’t do it but apparently he couldn’t help himself.

Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars? His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be. Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC talent, George Slopanopoulos. He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous.
Kimmel suggested that Trump’s post was “because he was upset I didn’t mention him on the show, and no one mentioned him on the show, he wasn’t getting any attention, he couldn’t stand it.”
Kimmel then referenced John Cena, one of the Oscar presenters who appeared to walk onstage naked (with a beige bikini covering his privates): “We had John Cena onstage naked and somehow Trump still managed to be the biggest dick of the night,” Kimmel said.
The packed audience of Trump-hating California celebrities, including a gleeful Jodie Foster, clapped like trained seals on cue, glancing at one another in mutual admiration, all of them of one mind, as if America should not be a democracy with more than one candidate for president.
And Kimmel doesn’t care, of course, what America thinks. He knows his audience, and they were in that room on Oscar night.
