I have no doubt tfederal Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic is a genuinely decent bloke.   But I wonder if he secretly harbours a just a soupcon of satisfaction that the perpetrator of the Christmas market attack in Magdeburg, Germany, turned out to be, at least as trumpeted in the mainstream media, an alleged ex-Muslim ‘Islamophobe’.

After all Husic, and, more particularly the Albanese appointed Special Envoy against Islamophobia, Aftab Malik, have seemed to me desperate to find evidence of Islamophobia that would allow them to draw a moral equivalence with the undoubted anti-Semitism that has recently reached epidemic proportions in Australia. Here excerpts from a report in The Australian:

 The government’s special envoy to combat Islamophobia Aftab Malik says Islamophobia is a “hidden cancer” that has not received the “public outcry or coverage” it merits … Mr Malik said there had been a “historic rise in Islamophobic incidents that came post-October 7th”.

…The government appointed Mr Malik at the end of September, after it had also appointed its first special envoy to combat anti-Semitism. He said he had completed a five-week consultation tour of Australia.

“I spent five weeks listening to these horrific stories, these outrageous experiences of Islamophobic humiliation that range from people being spat out on the streets, women’s hijabs being tugged off on public transport, people being told that they’re terrorists and need to go back,” he told ABC RN.

“So the whole situation is quite dire and diabolical.

“One of the (stories) that is the most common, and this is really indicative of the normalisation of Islamophobia, is that many people, many women specifically that I spoke to, whether they were in Perth or NSW or South Australia, even Brisbane, they all say the same story, that they’re in shopping malls walking around, and people will say to them, is that the bomb that you have trapped underneath your shirt?

“And they will respond humorously, no, it’s just belly fat.

“Now that is an experience that I’ve heard from all across Australia. It’s disturbing in the sense that it’s so common, and nothing apparently has been done about this.”

Well, forgive me if I am not overcome with horror at these events.  How come nothing was done?  And I wonder what prompted those purported jibes about bombs and belly fat.? Anyone remember these names: Numan Haider, Man Monis, Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar, Yacqub Khayre, Hassan Khalif Shire Ali and teenage Muslim convert Jake Bilardi , who blew himself up for ISIS

How dare everyday Australians  — a miniscule number — fail to restrain themselves from expressing their feelings in ways which pale into insignificance when compared with the invective hurled at Jewish Australians and, indeed, at Israel.

Clearly, here we have an example of real Islamophobia: an islamophobic Arab man gets into a car and mows down over 200 innocent Muslims, killing five of them.

Opps.  Wait a minute.  There may have been the odd Muslim in that crowd of Germans at a Christmas market but I’m betting the vast majority were European Christians.

A rather inept islamophobe, wouldn’t you think?
