New evidence has emerged that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the alleged MS-13 gang member and wife-beater who was deported to El Salvador last month, engaged in human trafficking several years ago.

In an exclusive report, the Tennessee Star reported Wednesday that in December 2022, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) caught Garcia smuggling seven suspected illegal aliens in a van in Tennessee. Garcia and the seven individuals were allegedly caught midway through their trip from the Texas border to Maryland. THP detained the crew until the FBI under then-Director Christopher Wray directed THP to release them.

The Star obtained information about the stop, “including the identity of the THP officer, the officer’s badge number, and the Computerized Dispatch Report code assigned to the incident.”

During the nearly two-hour traffic stop, “an officer determined that Abrego Garcia was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license and began searching for information about him,” according to the Star’s THP sources.

The sources also indicated that someone in the car, possibly Garcia himself, may have been on a terrorist watch list.

The officers on the scene called the FBI, who instructed them “to capture photographs of all eight people in the vehicle and document its contents.”

After the photos were taken, according to a THP source, the FBI directed the officers to “release all eight individuals.” The THP officers then complied with this request despite their concern that  Abrego Garcia was engaged in human trafficking and driving without a license, a misdemeanor offense in Tennessee.

Garcia crossed the border into the United States illegally in 2011 and when he was arrested in 2019, claimed he had to flee El Salvador as a teenager to escape gang violence.

Both the original immigration judge and the Board of Immigration Appeals in 2019 found there was sufficient evidence that Garcia was a member of MS-13 and, as such, a danger to the public.

An immigration judge subsequently barred Garcia from being returned to El Salvador, saying it was “more likely than not that he would be persecuted” there. But now, because President Trump designated MS-13 a foreign terrorist organization, the judge’s ruling is no longer applicable, according to White House Homeland Security advisor Stephen Miller.

Despite the mounting evidence that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a violent MS-13 gang member, human trafficker and wife beater, congressional Democrats have launched a full fledged campaign to have him returned to the United States.

Senator Chris Van Hollen (Md.) traveled to El Salvador on Wednesday in a failed attempt to pressure El Salvadoran President Bukele to “do the right thing” and release Garcia.

Van Hollen met with Félix Ulloa, the vice president of El Salvador, who refused to grant him a meeting with Garcia in-person or virtually. He also denied the senator’s request for the prison to facilitate a phone call between Garcia and his family.

“I asked him if I came back next week whether I’d be able to see Mr. Abrego Garcia. He said he couldn’t promise that either,” Van Hollen told reporters.

Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday slammed Democrats and their media allies on Tuesday, arguing that their demands for “due process” for illegal alien criminals are unreasonable.

“What process is due is a function of our resources, the public interest, the status of the accused, the proposed punishment, and so many other factors,” Vance wrote on X.

When the media and the far left obsess over an MS-13 gang member and demand that he be returned to the United States for a *third* deportation hearing, what they’re really saying is they want the vast majority of illegal aliens to stay here permanently.

Here’s a useful test: ask the people weeping over the lack of due process what precisely they propose for dealing with Biden’s millions and millions of illegals. And with reasonable resource and administrative judge constraints, does their solution allow us to deport at least a few million people per year?

If the answer is no, they’ve given their game away. They don’t want border security. They don’t want us to deport the people who’ve come into our country illegally. They want to accomplish through fake legal process what they failed to accomplish politically:

The ratification of Biden’s illegal migrant invasion.

President Trump and I will not stand for it.

On Wednesday, the mother of murdered Maryland woman Rachel Morin joined the White House press briefing, where she blasted Van Hollen for traveling to El Salvador in an attempt to retrieve the deported criminal.

Patty Morin graphically described the 2023 murder of her 37-year-old daughter by Victor Martinez-Hernandez, a Salvadoran illegal immigrant and MS-13 member who was convicted Monday of the crime, before expressing her frustration with her home state senator.

“I just don’t understand this,”  Morin told reporters.  “A senator from Maryland who didn’t even acknowledge—or barely acknowledged—my daughter and the brutal death that she endured, leaving her five children without a mother” chose to “use my tax money to fly to El Salvador to bring back a person … who isn’t even an American citizen.”

Democrats in Congress currently have a record low approval rating of 21 percent.

Update:

Fox News’s Bill Melugin obtained a police bodycam image and Homeland Security report from the 2022 traffic stop and shared them on X.

Per report, he had 8 people w/ no luggage in the car w/ him, & claimed to be driving them from TX to MD for construction work. Every passenger gave the same home address as Abrego Garcia’s address. The report says Abrego Garcia was evasive during questioning, and had an expired license.

He was not arrested or charged with any crime in relation to the incident.
