Beware of Democrats Bearing Law-and-Order Platitudes The party of lawlessness and political hypocrisy. Don Feder
The Party of Lawlessness has become the Party of Law and Order. The Party of Burn-Baby-Burn now sounds very much like Richard Nixon, circa 1969.
In the annals of political hypocrisy, Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. deserves his own chapter.
Following the so-called rioting at the Capitol on Wednesday, Biden stuck out his hollow chest, struck a heroic pose and thundered: “What we witnessed was not dissent; it was disorder. It was not a protest [unlike all of the ‘peaceful protests’ Democrats abetted since the death of George Floyd]. It was chaos. They weren’t protestors, don’t dare to call them protestors. They were a riotous mob, insurrectionists, domestic terrorists. It’s that basic. It’s that simple.”
We pause for applause.
Like the rest of his party, Biden hopes that we were all born yesterday.
It took the President-elect three months — from May 25 to August 30 — to weakly condemn the violence, arson, assaults and murders that were rocking the nation. Of course, in ritualistic fashion, he also condemned “police violence” and mythical right-wing militias. Antifa is “just an idea” he assured us. Far from calling the Black Lives Matter thugs a riotous mob, insurrectionists or domestic terrorists, he’s yet to criticize them in any way.
But when President Trump castigated the lawlessness and called for a return to democracy, he was “throwing gasoline on the fire,” said Sheriff Joe.
The rest of Biden’s party is equally culpable. House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler said reports of the riots “are a myth being spread only in Washington [by the White House].” In response to the looters and arsonists, the Democrat Governor of North Carolina urged, “People [the rioters] are more important than property. Black Lives do Matter.”
The Democrat Attorney General of Massachusetts declared, “Yes, America is burning, but that’s how forests grow.” In more than 130 American cities? That’s a lot of tinder. Meanwhile, staffers on the Biden and Harris campaigns raised bail money for the peaceful protestors, to get them back on the streets burning away the deadwood all the sooner.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s response to rioters in Baltimore, who threw a statue of Columbus into the harbor, was, “People will do what they do,” while federal law enforcement officers who were standing in the way of the Seattle mob attacking a federal courthouse were “stormtroopers. “Now she wants to impeach the president for supposedly inciting “the gleeful desecration of the U.S. Capitol, which is the temple of American democracy.”
Violence and intimidation have always been part of the Democrats’ playbook.
During the Kavanaugh hearings, the party encouraged the mob which harassed Republican lawmakers in the corridors on the Capitol — you know, that “temple of American democracy” — and tried to break down the doors of the Supreme Court building.
New York Senator Chuck Schumer, soon to be Senate Majority Leader, openly threatened justices on the steps of the Supreme Court building if they followed the Constitution on an impending abortion case. (“I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price.”) This drew a strong rebuke from Chief Justice John Roberts, who’s usually on Schumer’s side: “Threatening statements of this sort are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous.”
Where was Law n’ Order Joe when the mob – can we be frank, the Democrats’ mob? – descended on the home of Sen. Josh Hawley to frighten his wife and infant daughter, or when they tried to assault Sen. Rand Paul and his wife, as they left the White House at the end of the Republican Convention?
While Joe maintained decorous silence, 130 cities went up in flames, there was a minimum of $2 billion in property damage, and 319 cops in New York City alone were hospitalized from injuries sustained in “mostly peaceful” protests.
Because their Democrat mayors refused to act, and in many cases restrained the police, in September, the Department of Justice designated cities like New York, Portland and Seattle as “anarchist jurisdictions” where “local governments are permitting anarchy, violence and destruction.” Every one of the cities so designated is run by a Democrat. In November, all voted for Biden by lopsided majorities.
From the Reign of Terror to the Venezuelan regime, the left has always been about using violence to get power and keep power. It wasn’t monarchists who set up a guillotine in the Place de la Revolution. From Russia to Cuba, the firing squads worked overtime when the Reds came to power. There were planned famines in the USSR, a Cultural Revolution in China and Killing Fields in Cambodia.
In Germany during the Weimar years, two revolutionary gangs – the international socialists and the national socialists — fought in the streets. Before he came to power, Hitler encouraged the violence. Once he was appointed Chancellor, he demanded submission to his rule. He used the Reichstag fire as an excuse to assume dictatorial power. How will the left exploit the violence at the Capitol?
I had the following e-mail from a friend, a pastor and a Christian leader in Texas, who was in D.C. on Wednesday: “I was there, and until the riot, it was one big party. I think the whole thing was a setup. The people leading the charge over the barricades were not God-fearing Trump supporters but unfortunately some of our people got caught up in it. Now they’re using it to destroy the legacy of Donald Trump and those of us who loved what he stood for. I think we’re in for some rough times.”
While the story is still unfolding, it’s known that a number of Black Lives Matter agitators infiltrated the Trump crowd. How much responsibility they bear for the rioting has yet to be determined.
In the meantime, to paraphrase Cassandra: beware of Democrats bearing law-and-order platitudes.
