JOHN FUND: TRANSPARENCY? WALK THE WALK MR. PRESIDENT

http://www.nationalreview.com/blogs/print/333990 Conservatives are worried that the negotiations that will begin this week to avoid the “fiscal cliff” will end in disaster. Tax increases that will weaken the economy could be combined with spending cuts that never materialize in an agreement that will leave many Republicans — especially those who have signed the “no net new […]

HENRY COOPER: STAR WARS OVER GAZA

http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/333967/star-wars-over-gaza-henry-f-cooper Israel’s Iron Dome shows the value of high-tech missile defense. According to the Times of Israel, Israel’s Iron Dome missile-defense system shot down 84 percent of several hundred Iranian-supplied short-range ballistic missiles that Hamas launched from Gaza toward Israeli cities. This system, built in record time with U.S. help, demonstrated once again the importance […]

THE NEW RUSSIA IS BECOMING THE OLD RUSSIA AS PUTIN IMPLEMENTS DICTATORSHIP : LAINA FARHAT-HOLZMAN

http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/the-russians-are-looking-like-their-old-selves-again?f=puball Russia before the Communist Revolution in 1917 had conflicting cultural characteristics: a relatively small educated class and aristocracy undergoing a European-style renaissance; and the vast peasant and village population, dirt-poor, superstitious, and ignorant. Geography plays a role in shaping a culture. Russia’s vast size and wide-open plains left it vulnerable to invasions by such […]

ALAN CARUBA: A HURRICANE OF GLOBAL WARMING LIES

http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/a-hurricane-of-global-warming-lies?f=puball At his recent press conference, President Obama, in response to a question, said “You know, as you know, Mark, we can’t attribute any particular weather event to climate change. What we do know is the temperature around the globe is increasing faster than was predicted even ten years ago.” That is a flat out […]

EDWARD CLINE: A ONE SIDED SUICIDE PACT ****

http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/a-one-sided-suicide-pact Soeren Kern, writing for the Gatestone Institute in his November 16th article, “IslamNeeds a Fair Chance in Germany,” reported a significant development in Germany that portends dire consequences for that benighted nation and for all of Europe: the city of Hamburg signed a “treaty” with organizations representing its Islamic population. The “treaty” features a […]

ANOTHER DISMAL ELECTION: IN JAPAN

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324352004578132492249786894.html?mod=opinion_newsreel As giant problems in need of urgent solutions go, Japan is a thing of beauty. Its economy contracted by 3.5% on an annual basis from July to September, and slack exports and declining industrial production suggest another recession is coming. Demographic decline is well underway and Tokyo’s fiscal position—with debt roughly twice annual output—appears […]

THE UN’S SNEAK ATTACK ON THE INTERNET: GORDON CROVITZ

Letting the Internet be rewired by bureaucrats would be like handing a Stradivarius to a gorilla.

Who runs the Internet? For now, the answer remains no one, or at least no government, which explains the Web’s success as a new technology. But as of next week, unless the U.S. gets serious, the answer could be the United Nations.

Many of the U.N.’s 193 member states oppose the open, uncontrolled nature of the Internet. Its interconnected global networks ignore national boundaries, making it hard for governments to censor or tax. And so, to send the freewheeling digital world back to the state control of the analog era, China, Russia, Iran and Arab countries are trying to hijack a U.N. agency that has nothing to do with the Internet.

For more than a year, these countries have lobbied an agency called the International Telecommunications Union to take over the rules and workings of the Internet. Created in 1865 as the International Telegraph Union, the ITU last drafted a treaty on communications in 1988, before the commercial Internet, when telecommunications meant voice telephone calls via national telephone monopolies.

SIMON MILLER: A LOAD OF HOT AIR AS CONSUMERS GET BILKED BY POLITICIANS’ ENERGY EMISSIONS

http://www.thecommentator.com/article/2123/a_load_of_hot_air have always believed that if we are going to solve our energy problems the best way to help would be to connect turbines to the Palace of Westminster to collect all the hot air generated within. Be it talk about Europe, sympathy for the “ordinary working family” (©all parties come elections) or economic plans, […]

RICK MORAN: BONNIE PRINCE CHARLES…THE ROYAL DHIMMIWIT FEELS HE’S RUNNING OUT OF TIME

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2012/11/fairy_prince_waiting_for_his_mum_to_die_thinks_hes_running_out_of_time.html
HERE ARE SOME OF HIS MUTTERINGS ON ISLAM: http://www.meforum.org/356/prince-charles-of-arabia

“Our judgement of Islam has been grossly distorted by taking the extremes to the norm. . . . For example, people in this country frequently argue that the Sharia law of the Islamic world is cruel, barbaric and unjust. Our newspapers, above all, love to peddle those unthinking prejudices. The truth is, of course, different and always more complex. My own understanding is that extremes, like the cutting off of hands, are rarely practised. The guiding principle and spirit of Islamic law, taken straight from the Qur’an, should be those of equity and compassion.

There is much we can learn from that Islamic world view in this respect. There are many ways in which mutual understanding and appreciation can be built. Perhaps, for instance, we could begin by having more Muslim teachers in British schools, or by encouraging exchanges of teachers. Everywhere in the world people want to learn English. But in the West, in turn, we need to be taught by Islamic teachers how to learn with our hearts, as well as our heads.”

Poor Prince Charles. It’s got to be tough waiting around for your mother to die before you can really begin to have fun as a once and future royal. All those really kewl parades and pomp and circumstance and such. And then there’s that great big stipend of cash, courtesy of the British taxpayer, that keeps hearth and home together – as well as feeding the polo ponies and vast retinue of servants.

Waiting around has apparently gotten to Chucky, as this interview in the Telegraph makes clear:

During a visit to Dumfries House, the stately home in East Ayrshire which the Prince helped save for the nation, he joked about his reputation for pursuing projects with notorious vigour but made a poignant reference to his mortality.

He said: “Impatient? Me? What a thing to suggest! Yes of course I am.” He added: “I’ll run out of time soon. I shall have snuffed it if I’m not careful.”
