Betrayal as Clear as a Sore Toe By Wes Pruden

Mitt Romney should think of the betrayal in Benghazi as gout in Barack Obama’s left big toe, and step on it hard at every opportunity. The president will feel it, and the memory of Ambassador Chris Stevens deserves no less.

Making foreign policy an issue is usually hard to do, since most voters think a foreign affair is a naughty weekend in Paris. But this foreign affair is different.

The betrayal in Benghazi – and that is exactly what it was – was tragic for Mr. Stevens and his family, and it went beyond tragedy for the rest of us. The ambassador, watching the security arrangements dissolving over a period of weeks, had begged Washington for additional help. The White House answered with silence, not even sparing a little gas money for the 1936-vintage DC-3, a lumbering old airplane with a legacy of service in a half-dozen wars, assigned to American diplomats in Libya. The plane was insurance for a quick getaway. There was, however, $108,000 available to install a charging station for a fleet of Chevy Volts at the embassy in Vienna. It was a question of green priorities.

Saving Solar Energy From the Government and the Political Class by Taylor Dinerman

http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/3397/saving-solar-energy It would be better if some of the money could be directed away from subsidies to businesses. To put it bluntly, the US government would have to give up on “crony capitalism, as exemplified by Solyndra, and go back to funding scientific research. When government steps out of its legitimate role supporting basic scientific […]

Colonel’s Class on Radical Islam Leaves Career in Limbo Rowan Scarborough….!!!!

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/oct/14/colonels-class-on-radical-islam-leaves-career-in-l/?page=all#pagebreak

When ArmyLt. Col. Matthew Dooley last year began teaching a class to fellow officers on the dangers of radical Islam, he seemed to have landed in a perfect spot.

A highly rated armor officer who saw combat in Iraq, Col. Dooley planned to instruct for several years at the Joint Forces Staff College within the National Defense University, then seek command of a combat battalion — a ticket to better postings and higher rank.

Today, Col. Dooley finds himself at a dead end while being targeted for criticism by American Islamic groups, at least two of which are linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, which advocates universal Islamic law.

More important, Col. Dooley’s critics include ArmyGen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In a news conference with Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta in May, Gen. Dempsey, the nation’s highest-ranking military officer, publicly excoriated Col. Dooley’s training materials as being unfair to Islam and “academically irresponsible.”

A month after Gen. Dempsey’s rebuke, a general on his Pentagon staff ordered Col. Dooley to be removed as an instructor “for cause.”

As a result, regulations called for Marine Lt. Gen. George Flynn to order the National Defense University to produce a negative officer evaluation report on Col. Dooley — a career ender.

Richard Thompson, president of the nonprofit Thomas More Law Center, is representing Col. Dooley in an appeal against the negative report. He said the Pentagon is trying to appease the Muslim Brotherhood.

“What happened here was this whole idea of political correctness deterred the ability of our military to speak frankly about the identity of the enemy,” Mr. Thompson said in an interview. “Once you allow political correctness to overwhelm our military, then we are really going to have an impact on our national security.”

A PREVIEW OF OBAMACARE FROM THE UK: MELANIE PHILLIPS

http://melaniephillips.com/the-liverpool-killing-pathway For relatives anxious about a frail loved one in hospital, few things could surely sound more reassuring than a ‘care pathway’. It sounds like a well-worked-out schedule for providing the best possible approach to treating a patient. Accordingly, when relatives have been asked to sign up to the Liverpool Care Pathway (LCP), that’s precisely […]

JAN POLLER: SMIRKIN’ JOE AND THE ELECTORATE

Smirkin’ Joe gave us quite a show in the VP debate. He was quite the comedian. What could be funnier than the idea that Iran is 4 years closer to a nuclear weapon than they were 4 years ago? Maybe the idea that they didn’t have a delivery system is funnier? Maybe the idea that […]

DIANA WEST: ABOUT THE GATE TO THE COMPOUND IN BENGHAZI ****

http://www.dianawest.net/Home/tabid/36/EntryId/2270/About-the-Gate-to-the-Compound-in-Benghazi.aspx  Just read the State Department blow-by-blow briefing, or “tick-tock,” on events in Benghazi given reporters on background on October 9. As senior official #2 summed up the attack in his concluding remarks: The lethality and the number of armed people is unprecedented. There had been no attacks like that anywhere in Libya – Tripoli, […]

NOW BILL CLEANS UP HILL’S MESS

http://www.maggiesnotebook.com/2012/10/bill-clinton-gathering-legal-minds-to-fix-hillarys-benghazi-mess/

“Hillary takes this one hard on the chin and she deserves it. The wife of a former U.S. President supported the agenda to blame America first and protect Muslim countries no matter the cost. Hillary climbed aboard to serve a man she couldn’t abide. She knew she would be seen as the most powerful woman in the world. Her legacy as Secretary of State would pave her road to the Oval Office, but she’s under the bus now, and I ask you again, when have you ever seen an ounce, a word, of patriotism from Hillary Clinton?”

Doug Ross is quoting Ed Klein, the author of The Amateur saying Bill Clinton has “assembled an informal legal team” to come up with some strategy to defend Hillary Clinton’s Benghazi strategy, which was insane and irresponsible by any measure. If we have a Marine detachment in Barbados, why wouldn’t we have protected our interests in Benghazi? Perhaps because Hillary has busily and with great import taken on the Muslim cause around the world. She jumped on that bus going in the wrong direction – the vehicle Obama tuned-up in his Cairo speech, and has kept the petal to the metal ever since.

JENNIFER O’MAHONEY: 10,000 MUSLIMS PROTEST IN LONDON….!!!!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/9607763/Muslims-protest-age-of-mockery-as-=thousands-descend-on-Google-HQ.html

By Jennifer O’Mahony

A protest by 10,000 Muslims outside the offices of Google in London today is just the first in an orchestrated attempt to force the company to remove an anti-Islamic film from website YouTube in Britain.

Thousands had travelled from as far afield as Glasgow to take part in the demonstration, ahead of a planned million-strong march in Hyde Park in coming weeks.

Anger over ‘The Innocence of Muslims’, an American-produced film which insults the Prophet Mohammad and demeans Muslims, according to protesters, remains available to watch on the website YouTube, a subsidiary of Google.

Organiser Masoud Alam said: “Our next protest will be at the offices of Google and YouTube across the world. We are looking to ban this film.

“This is not freedom of expression, there is a limit for that. This insult of the Prophet will not be allowed.

The group’s next action was a march Mr Alam hoped would be “a million strong” would take place in Hyde Park “in the next few weeks”, he said.

“Until it is banned we will keep protesting,” he added.

Today’s demonstration was the third organised in a month, and took place on the central London street where the website search giant has its UK headquarters. A demonstration outside the American Embassy in London last month drew little attention as protests in Libya, Tunisia and Yemen dominated headlines, including the storming of embassy in Benghazi, Libya, that led to the death of the US Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens.
