I, Gershon Mesika, son of Yosef and Gita, whose two older brothers were murdered by the damned Nazis in the Jado Concentration Camp in Libya, stand before you and hereby declare, for the world to hear, that the Jewish people now possess our own state, and not only are we not selling it – we are redeeming it again and again with our blood, and paying for the right to maintain it, safeguard it and settle in it.

The Shomron, or Samaria, which I am honored to represent in this distinguished place, the European Parliament, is a region that is in the center of international attention, since it is a sizable part of the territory that is in dispute between the Jewish nation and its neighbors in the Middle East.
But this area, which for many in the world is nothing but “disputed land,” is a homeland for us, the place that characterizes and determines our national and religious identity, the scene of the great events described in the Book of Books, the Bible.

The French Revolution 2012: Three Muslims in Cabinet
More than 90 percent of French Muslims voted for Hollande, enough to defeat Sarkozy. Now, Hollande appoints three Muslims to his cabinet.
Newly elected French president Francois Hollande has appointed three Muslims to his 34-member cabinet following his victory, in which the Muslims’ 93 percent support for the left-wing Socialist candidate put him over the top to defeat incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy.
Hollande won by a scant 2.3 percent margin. Approximately 1.7 million Muslims voted for Hollande, who won the election by only 1.1 million votes.
At least two of the Muslim cabinet members are foreigners, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, born in Morocco, and Yamina Benguigui, an Algerian native. Both are women. The third Muslim cabinet member is Kader Arif, who has charged that Israel blocked Sarkozy’s proposed Mediterranean Union.

He is suing Purdue after the school’s investigation of his comments about Islam on Facebook. Though the probe cleared him, he says Purdue still violated his free speech rights.

I would like to talk to you today about your ordeal at Purdue. How did the whole incident start?
There is an old saying….”they do not make them like that anymore.” David Littman, the beloved husband of my friend Bat Ye’or was unique in his devotion to the cause of the Jews in every corner of every continent. He was articulate, persuasive and unrelenting. Indeed, they just don’t make them like him anymore. What a loss. To my friend Gisele and his children I can only offer condolence and the comfort of good memories. We are in the debt of this great couple. I am honored to have known David and to continue my friendship with Bat Ye’or.

Professor Bernard Wasserstein, a distinguished academic who holds an endowed chair in modern Jewish history at the University of Chicago, has painted an extraordinary portrait of Jewish civilization in Europe on the eve of its destruction. His goal was “to capture the realities of life in Europe in the years leading up to 1939, when the Jews stood, as we now know, at the edge of an abyss”; to “breathe renewed life momentarily into those who were soon to be dry bones”; and to restore forgotten individuals to the historical record, without “special pleading or sentimentality.”
He has produced a book covering virtually every aspect of Jewish pre-war life — politics, religion, society, culture, language — in the four geographical zones that comprised Europe: (1) the Western democracies, in which Jews had been emancipated for several generations; (2) Germany and areas absorbed into the Third Reich, where Jews were being systematically stripped of citizenship, property, and economic rights; (3) Eastern Europe, where anti-Semitism was a significant element in politics and public policy, and (4) the Soviet Union, where Jews had upward social mobility after 1917 until the emergence of Stalin. He makes it clear the Jews faced existential threats in all four areas of Europe.
