http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/11/sanctions_wont_stop_irans_nuclear_bomb_program.html The International Atomic Energy Agency has now provided credible evidence that Iran is clandestinely developing nuclear weapons, adding its considerable weight to warnings that the Islamic state is on the threshold of nuclear capability. The IAEA’s latest report details the military aspects of the program for the first time since the start of its […]

Special: Latest firebombing of French magazine highlights Islamist threat to freedom Giulio Meotti
The office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo was badly damaged by a firebomb on Wednesday, after it published a spoof issue “guest edited” by the Prophet Muhammad to salute the victory of the Islamist party in Tunisia’s elections.
The magazine had announced a special issue for publication, renamed “Charia Hebdo,” a play on the French word for Islamic law. The magazine’s website has also been hacked with a message in English and Turkish. The fatwa said: “You keep abusing Islam’s almighty Prophet with disgusting and disgraceful cartoons using excuses of freedom of speech. Be Allah’s curse upon you!”

http://www.hudson-ny.org/2569/anarchy-ideal The Occupy Wall Street demonstrators are no longer merely residents of Zuccotti Park; they have converted themselves into roving bands restricting traffic on Broadway and Church Street, and are occupying nearby buildings. Yet the city authorities turn away their gaze — as well known scholars, such as Cornel West, Slavoj Zizek and Frances Fox […]

Review of: Silenced: How Apostasy and Blasphemy Laws are Choking Freedom Worldwide By: Paul Marshall and Nina Shea
“Apostasy is, in principle, subject to sharia hudud rules, which means that the punishment—death—is believed to be fixed by divine order and not subject to judicial discretion…,” write Paul Marshall and Nina Shea in chapter two of Silenced: How Apostasy and Blasphemy Laws are Choking Freedom Worldwide (p. 23), without further explanation.
Silenced falls far short of the landmark study it might have been, had the authors honestly addressed foundational Islamic principles, history and texts that support offending modern codes, and stated the stupefyingly consistent and pervasive use of sharia laws throughout Muslim history. Specifically, hudud refer to Islamic behavioral limits thought divine since Mohammed established the creed. Sharia’s heavenly status and its stubborn exercise rest squarely on Koran (considered sacred and immutable) and sunnah, or “traditions.” The latter includes hadith and sira, Mohammed’s recorded speech and deeds; and his life (usually, the Ibn Ishaq biography). Apostasy—rejecting Islam—is but one offense to divinity. Adultery similarly requires capital punishment, and theft demands amputation.
To assert that hudud are rarely enforced, or fearing them is “lunacy,” as do Sadiq Reza and other Islamic law professors, is sheer absurdity. But readers of Silenced will not learn here that the horrors the book describes represent unadulterated use of classical hudud and sharia laws, as always practiced.

Binyam Mohamed is back in the news. You may remember him as the
al-Qaeda operative who was slated to help would-be “dirty bomber” Jose
Padilla conduct a second wave of post-9/11 attacks, targeting American
cities. You also may not remember him. After all, the Obama
administration quietly released him without charges.
Well, there’s a new chapter in this sordid tale. Mohamed is living
large — taxpayer-funded large — in Great Britain. For that, we can
thank the Lawyer Left’s stubborn insistence that enemy war criminals
are really run-of-the-mill defendants. Actually, make that
run-of-the-mill plaintiffs.

This article is from our special November issue, which focuses on the future of America. Also in the issue is John Podhoretz’s Case for Optimism and a COMMENTARY symposium featuring 41 American thinkers and writers who answer the question: Are you optimistic or pessimistic about America’s future? We will be posting two symposium contributions daily on our blog. Click here to read the most recently posted symposium contribution.
_____________In September 2009, Barack Obama and Muammar Qaddafi both addressed the United Nations. It is a pitiful reflection upon the Republic in twilight that, when it comes to the transnational mush drooled by the leader of the free world or the conspiracist ramblings of a pseudo-Bedouin terrorist drag queen presiding over a one-man psycho-cult basket case, it’s more or less a toss-up as to which of them was the more unreal.
http://www.americanthinker.com/images/at-logo.gif Currently an estimated 2.6 million observant Muslims reside in the United States. Many live their lives according to sharia law, the moral and religious code of the Islamic faith. When Muslims bring legal disputes into U.S. courts, a legal dilemma often arises, pitting individual rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and laws against Islamic […]

To the sort of people who think that a few teenagers living in a shack on a hilltop represent the greatest threat imaginable to the peace process and world peace– the so-called “Price Tag” attacks in which local Jewish farmers strike back against Muslim attacks as a deterrent against further violence are an obsession.
Whether there are actually any “Price Tag” attacks and how many “Price Tag” attacks there are is open to question. Security agencies tasked with going after “right wing extremists” usually get their man and after a splashy announcement and prolonged detention have to let them go because their case doesn’t actually exist. At that point it doesn’t matter, the arrests have already been widely reported and the conclusions have all been drawn.
The investigation of a mosque burning incident has already resulted in arrests of people who couldn’t have physically done it. But the arrests themselves are a form of “Price Tag” exacted by the authorities against community members to send a message. It’s a particularly ironic form of message when the goal is to clamp down on those types of “eye for an eye” tactics.
