Repeal Obamacare PAC Endorses Phillips in NY-22
October 13, 2010 — Repeal Obamacare PAC, a federally registered PAC formed just days after the passage of Obamacare March 2010, has announced that it has endorsed George Phillips, a GOP candidate for Congress in New York’s hotly contested 22nd Congressional District.
“ROCPAC is very pleased to support George Phillips. New York taxpayers need George Phillips in Congress. Washington is consumed by career politicians like Maurice Hinchey and their special interests. George Phillips will be a much-needed voice for the rest of us,” said Evan Kates, ROCPAC’s Political Director. “George will bring principles and leadership to Washington – unlike his opponent, who is just another a rubber stamp for the Pelosi-Obama-Reid Democrats.”
Phillips said he is pleased with ROCPAC’s endorsement. “While the citizens of this country were certainly entitled to have their government look at and improve their health care system, the measures enacted by the current Congress, forcing through a massive bill which very few members actually read, wound up doing more harm than good. Many of the stated goals are desirable, such as reducing costs and making health insurance more portable and durable when you become ill, lose your job, or move to a different state.
What Americans received however, was far different. This bloated packaged was full of taxes and fees which has correctly been called the largest cumulative tax increase in our nation’s history. And the results are already being felt, as employers learn more about the new regulations and move to cut or eliminate health care as part of their benefits package. Health care professionals are expressing concerns over whether or not they will even be able to remain in business.
What was needed was a solution based on sound, free market principles which would lower costs and increase participation through vigorous interstate competition. Restrictions on the medical malpractice industry would also serve to lower costs by reducing the burden on health care providers. We received none of these things. And that’s why I have already pledged to go to Washington and defund the current, dysfunctional legislation and work to replace it with a sound, fiscally responsible solution.”
