Che Guevara’s Daughter Chumming it up with Hezbollah
Yesterday the svelte Aledia Guevara posed next to Hezbollah missiles aimed at Israel
Only last month Castro was coyly dropping his hankie, winking and batting his eyelashes at Israel and her U.S. backers. Only a month before that, he had equated Israel to Nazi Germany (his regime’s traditional schtick.) So Castro’s September makeover as a freshly-minted Likud stalwart probably had many within his regime wincing and hiding their faces.
Alas, desperate times call for desperate measure. (stalwart Israel backer) Howard Berman’s Castro Bail-Out bill seemed on razor’s edge, needing only a little push. And in fact Castro made one convert , stalwart Israel-backer, Gary Ackerman D. Queens. “After giving it a lot of thought, I have changed my position,” he said. ” I plan to vote in favor. “Recalling a night-long meeting with then-President Fidel Castro in 1994, Ackerman said that he “made a case with him” for human rights. “It didn’t happen then,” Ackerman said. “But Cuba is addressing many of those issues now.” Ackerman’s epiphany was recently reported by former Antonio Maceo Brigadista Albor Ruiz.
Alas, it didn’t work. Castro’s longed-for votes never materialized. Ackerman’s was a lonely voice. Most Israel backers (as in Debbie Wasserman) slapped Castro down.
So now it appears the Castro regime is back in form; Aleida Guevara in Lebanon, chumming it up with Hezbollah leaders while declaring: “I feel my father’s presence here…my father is always present with people who resist foreign occupation!”
Remember when Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor recently hailed Che Guevara’s “ideals” ?
Remember when Bibi Netanyahu (very recently) hailed Fidel Castro’s newfound and fervent Zionism?
No word from either party regarding these latest developements which also include this declaration from Ahmadinejad yesterday: “The two countries (Iran and Cuba)should tap into all their potential to further deepen cooperation and mutual relations.”
No word from Howard Berman, Gary Ackerman or Jeffrey Goldberg either.
