CONSERVATIVES NOW HAVE THE “DOLE”DRUMS
AS I SEE IT: THE POST ELECTION GLOASTING SYNDROME
First: I like and respect Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell who has been a conservative stalwart on defense and national security, the global warmongering scam, and Obamacare. He also put up good fights for candidates like Toomey, Miller, Rossi and Johnson.
Alas, this May 2010 statement of support for Charles Christ in Florida came back to bite him:
“I am pleased to endorse Governor Charlie Crist and provide my full support for his candidacy for the United States Senate,” McConnell said in a statement. “Charlie Crist has been a tireless advocate for the citizens of Florida by fighting to lower taxes, reduce government spending and enhance the quality of life for all Floridians. Decisions are being made every day in Washington that have a direct impact upon the lives of all Americans and we need Charlie Crist in the U.S. Senate to ensure that those decisions will benefit the citizens of Florida.”
Rubio won.
Mitch McConnell’s statement on November 4th, that the mission of the Republicans was to defeat President Obama in the next election was arrogant, particularly since the old boy Republicans lost the Senate. The gains were wrought by the Tea Party, and the sweep of wins by Patty Murray, Barbara Boxer, Robert Blumenthal, Harry Reid, were nothing for the Grand Old Party to boast about.
Conservatives now have the “Dole”drums and it is no longer the Grand Old Party but rather the Grand New party.
Take the cue from Rubio who avoided gloating, and listen to the young Turks in both houses…..Paul Ryan comes immediately to mind.
