Kathy Shaidle is right. This is a classic media trajectory: Something goofy happens – in this case, a prominent Muslim organization posts a David Duke video; a couple of bloggers start looking into it, and a week later the snooty old legacy media picks up the story after all the legwork’s been done for them.

But Kathy also points out the next stage. Enter the brain-dead knee-jerk Canadian establishment:

The Canadian Jewish Congress said it believed there were grounds to lodge a complaint to police over the website, which it said may be in violation of Canada’s hate laws.

“It’s hard to believe that in 2011, there would be any credible or faith-based group that would embrace the most despicable neo-Nazi in North America, David Duke,” said Bernie Farber, CEO of the Jewish congress.

“What really is startling is that if anyone within this Islamic organization would just sit down for a moment and listen to what David Duke says … maybe they would take a second sober thought as to whether this is the kind of guy that they want to embrace.”

Oh, please. Do you even read your own quotes? Or do you just have a software program that regurgitates this drivel at the push of a button? Obviously, this Islamic organization listens to what David Duke says, and they’re entirely comfortable with it. Mr Duke has made clear for years that his loathing of Jews counts for more than any, ah, mixed feelings he might have about Muslims. Why’s that so difficult even for Bernie Farber to grasp?

So, of course, Bernie with his reflex urge to censor immediately reaches for the, ooh, naughty “hate law” violation. It shouldn’t be illegal for Muslims to post David Duke videos if they happen to like them. Which these guys clearly do. The real issue, as Blazing Cat Fur points out, is how plugged in this Muslim organization is to everyone who matters in Trudeaupia – photo ops with Liberal MPs, Toronto’s police chief, the NDP leader… How disgusting does a “mainstream” Muslim organization have to be for Bill Blair and Jack Layton to decline to be photographed with them?

That’s the disgrace. But, because Bernie is also on the multiculti back-scratching circuit, he can’t even see that.

One day Toronto will be like Tangiers: There will be no Jews left except for a few very elderly ones who can’t sell their homes. The stupidity and short-sightedness of the Canadian Jewish Congress will bear at least part of the blame.
