Helpers of the Global Jihad have since issued a retraction of their earlier statement claiming that they caused the bombing in central Oslo.

An Islamic extremist alleging to be Abu Suleiman Al-Nasser originally claimed responsibility for the attacks. However, Iraqi security forces claimed to have shot dead a man named Al-Nasser Lideen Allah Abu Suleiman, who had well-documented links to Al-Qaeda, in February this year. It is not unheard of for Al-Qaeda extremists to claim responsibility for acts of terrorism which are not their own.

Islamic Internet forums cheer Norway murders

“Jubel über den Angriff in islamistischen Internetforen” from Spiegel, July 22

In islamistischen Internetforen wurden die Nachrichten über eine Explosion im norwegischen Regierungsviertel von Anhängern al-Qaidas als “frohe Nachricht” bejubelt. “Euch bleibt nicht mehr viel Zeit, eure Soldaten aus Afghanistan abzuziehen, oder ihr werdet Blut in den Straßen sehen”, schrieb ein User.

Translation:

“Cheers about the attack on Islamic Internet forums”  The news of an explosion in the Norwegian government quarter was cheered as “good news” by Al-Qaida followers on Islamic Internet forums. “You don’t have much more time to pull your soldiers out of Afghanistan or you’ll see blood in the streets”, wrote one user.

Meanwhile, a short time after news of the attack spread, many Arab and Muslim web surfers claimed that it was Israel who was responsible: “A criminal operation of this magnitude is not carried out without the support and planning of a terrorist state, which stakes out opportunities to shuffle the deck. It is the Zionist state, in collaboration with the extremist Zionist Christians, that wants to hurt Islam in its allie [sic], Norway,” a surfer named Omar Ali commented on Al Jazeera’s website. “It’s not al-Qaeda. And why the Mossad? Because Norway recognized the Palestinian state two days ago, and what does it mean when a gas- and oil-rich nation like Norway supports the Palestinians? Israel would never allow it.

A third commentator said that it was clear to him that an intelligence agency, like the Mossad or the CIA – was behind the attack. Yet another surfer, from Jordan, accused the US, adding that “as usual, the American intelligence is pressing Norway to declare that Muslims carried out the bombing.
