Several days ago, an Australian state parliamentarian, David Clarke, ably articulated the core of the case against the abominable Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign, and to their credit the vast majority of the New South Wales upper chamber agreed with him.
“The boycott, divestment and sanctions [BDS] campaign directed world-wide against the state of Israel is a campaign that is misleading and deceitful. It is a campaign that is devious and destructive. It is a campaign that engenders hate mongering and promotes division. This whole world-wide boycott, divestment and sanctions operation should be repudiated and rejected by all people of decency and goodwill …

Those who fuel this campaign say that it targets some of Israel’s policies but the truth of the matter is that it does not target Israel’s policies; it targets Israel’s legitimacy. The truth is that it targets Israel’s right to exist. The truth is that the campaign’s end result would see the state of Israel cease to exist as the state envisaged by the United Nations when it voted to recognise its legitimacy back in 1947….

The BDS campaign has at the core of its platform that there should be a right of return to Israel, not just of all Palestinians who claim to have lived in Israel at the time of its independence in 1948 and who left for whatever reason; it demands that all of the descendants of those who departed for whatever reason should also have the right of return—every child, every grandchild, every great grandchild should likewise have the automatic right of return. This would mean not just scores of thousands or even several hundred thousand; it would mean millions, even many millions. The United Nations in 1947 envisaged two states in Palestine, one Jewish and one Arab. The result of the BDS campaign would see Israel, as a predominantly Jewish state, face the destruction of its Jewish character. That is not what the United Nations envisaged over six decades ago and it is not what Australia, as a member of the United Nations six decades ago, envisaged either. And it is not something that we should, by our silence, conspire to allow to occur.

The platform of the BDS campaign demands that Israel commit national suicide…. There are forces in this world that seek the destruction of Israel by whatever means they can. The terrorists of Hezbollah and Hamas seek to achieve it by firing their rockets on the civilians of Israel. The late but unlamented Osama bin Laden devoted the last 20 years of his life to the same goal and the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has declared the same goal as a policy of state. The platform of the BDS campaign would result in the same goal as well…. ”

On September 15, a New York Times article reacting to the Republican upset in NY-9 alerted readers to the efforts President Obama is making to win back Jewish voters. Apparently, Obama’s endless praise of Islamic nations that hate Israel and his speeches on how Palestinians are suffering at the hands of Israelis the way Jews suffered at the hands of Hitler has been somewhat disconcerting for the voting bloc Democrats thought they could always count on.

The question is, how far will Obama go to try to win Jewish voters back to his side?

The Democrat National Committee has already launched a “Jewish outreach program” and David Axelrod is hastily emailing Jewish constituents a link to the one speech he could find that showed an Israeli leader saying something positive about Obama.

But what will Obama himself do to win Jewish voters back in time for 2012?

Texas Governor and GOP presidential hopeful Rick Perry wrote an op-ed taking the Palestinians to the woodshed for their plans to seek UN recognition of a Palestinian state. He also admonished President Obama for distancing himself from Israel while pursuing engagement with Iran and Syria. While the Obama Administration has been notable for exerting pressure on Israel, a Perry Administration would put the pressure where it belongs:

The United States must affirm that the precondition for any properly negotiated settlement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority is the formal recognition of the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state behind secure borders.

There is no such a thing as one Islam. There are hundreds of Islamic sects in the same way that there are hundreds of diseases.

In the same way that there are no good diseases, there are no good Islamic sects. And in order to deal with an illness, correct diagnosis is essential to prescribe the right medication. Hence, dealing with various sects of Islam effectively, demands correct understanding of what they are, what they aim to do and their methods of spreading their psychosocial disease. Some Islamic sects are extremely virulent and deadly. They must be dealt with accordingly. Others are less violent and work their agenda in more subtle ways. Even the latter types are far from harmless. One and all keep to the Quran and pursue the same goal of dominating the world.

Texas Governor Rick Perry and Islam

A recent heated debate has risen regarding Governor Rick Perry’s relationship with the Ismaili sect of Islam. Allegations are made that the governor is influenced by the leader of this sect to incorporate favorable material in the Texas Educational Curriculum. This allegation disturbed me greatly and led me to look into the facts of the matter. It turns out that the Texas governor has about zero authority or power to dictate what is included in the state’s educational curriculum. Rick Perry is taking on big issues with no sense of fear. In the Florida Republican debate, Perry did little to soften his attack on the Social Security System as a “Ponzi Scheme.” Someday, perhaps, Perry’s insistence on using tough language when talking about Social Security will be seen as a defining moment in American political history.

None of the other Republicans has openly agreed with Perry’s name for Social Security, and even stout conservatives like Herman Cain, in the South Carolina debate, urged conservatives not to get bogged down in rhetoric. Cain is dead wrong. A serious rhetorical attack on Social Security must be made.

Frontal rhetorical attack on dangerous leftist nonsense is the key to conservative victory. In March 1983, President Reagan addressed the National Association of Evangelicals. In that speech Regan ignored the counsel of advisers and said that the Soviet Union had “the aggressive impulses of an evil empire.”

Constitution Day is an American federal observance that recognizes the ratification of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is observed on September 17, the day the Philadelphia Convention (AKA U.S. Constitutional Convention) signed the US Constitution in 1787.

On September 17, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created, it was the second American Revolution. The Convention was formed to revise the “Articles of Confederation.” What it did instead was to overthrow the existing United States government and create a system unmatched in its fairness and protection of liberty.

The Philadelphia Convention took place from May 25 to September 17, 1787, to address problems in governing the United States of America, which had been operating under the Articles of Confederation following independence from Great Britain. Although the Convention was purportedly intended only to revise the Articles of Confederation, the intention of many of its proponents, chief among them James Madison and Alexander Hamilton, was from the outset to create a new government rather than “fix” the existing one. The delegates elected George Washington to preside over the convention and what was to become the second American Revolution.
