November 9^th is the 72^nd Anniversary of Kristallnacht -“the night of broken glass” that occured throughout Germany and Austria. Kristallnacht was Nazi retribution for the assassination an anti-Nazi German diplomat Ernest Vom Rath in the Paris by a young Polish Jew, Herschel Grynzspan on November 7th, 1938.   That event was seized upon by Herr Hitler and his Nazi SA and SS thugs to unleash a torrent of ‘spontaneous’ violence. That violence was graphically  set against the lurid  flames of  more than 1,000 synagogues torched, several hundred of them destroyed, thousands of Jewish businesses and homes broken into, destroyed  and vandalized.  91  Jewish men were killed, thousands beaten  and more than 30,000 dragged off to concentration camps.   Many of the later  would never to return to their frightened families, many of whom were to disappear in the Holocaust.  Kristallnacht was the prelude to the Final Solution that murdered six million European Jewish men, women and children.

 On this 72^nd anniversary of Kristallnacht, commemorations will occur in Germany, EU, UK, America,  Israel  and among many countries around the globe. Given the onslaught of Islamic Antisemitism, especially the relentless Iranian quest to wipe Israel and the Jewish people off the map of the world through a nuclear Holocaust, Kristallnacht is never far from our minds at this time.  Israel, demonized by the Muslim world, and progressive allies in the West, is the lone bulwark militarily against President Ahmadinejad and the Shia Mahdist Clerics in Tehran   intent on murdering millions of Jews in our time. President Obama and other world leaders are appeasers of this existential threat to Israel, the Jewish people and the World.  He is a contemporary version of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and French Premier Daladier who made Czechoslovakia disappear at Munich in September 1938 by succumbing to the demands of Herr Hitler and willing helper, Benito Mussolini. Obama is endeavoring to cause the Czechoslovakization of Israel  as the price of pandering to Muslim annihilationist demands.

That was the underlying theme in Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech at the annual meeting of the North American General Assembly of Jewish Federations in New Orleans.   His  speech   wass disrupted by a handful of American and Israeli progressive Jewish protesters from Code Pink.  Netanyahu noted this about these misguided self hating Jews:

The commemoration of Kristallnacht holds a personal memory for me. During my freshman year at Boston University, I roomed with a son of Kristallnacht survivors who fled Germany. My roommate’s father was a cattle dealer in Bavaria, captain of his town’s soccer squad, who was forced out when the Nuremberg Racial laws were adopted in Nazi Germany in 1935. When Kristallnacht occurred my roommate’s father was rounded up like thousands of other German Jews. In his case he was incarcerated at Dachau. Through the perseverance of his mother and bribery of Nazi officials, my roommate’s father was released. They secured visas that ultimately brought them to America just before declaration of War World two  by the United States. My college roommate was born nine months after release of his father from Dachau. Perhaps because of his family’s experience during and following Kristallnacht, he resolved to become part of the US military as recognition for America providing his family a safe haven.  He secured a USAF ROTC commission, became a flying officer, and ultimately made it his career. I would like to think of my roommate’s career choice as sending a message of “Never Again”. Perhaps, this is what I keep in mind when thoughts occur to me about commemorating Kristallnacht: active resistance to existential Islamic Jew hatred and the self hatred of misguided dhimmi Jews. Jews, whose self destructive conduct Israeli Prime minister Netanyahu referred to in New Orleans, yesterday.
