JULY 11, 1804 AARON BURR FATALLY SHOT ALEXANDER HAMILTON
Alexander Hamilton was a Founding Father, soldier, economist, political philosopher, one of America’s first constitutional lawyers and the first United States Secretary of the Treasury. He was 49 years old when he died.
Few people have made a comparable contribution to American government in adherence to the Constitution, in finance, in principles in politics, in bravery and in intellectual prowess. Hamilton’s face on the $10 bill is the only non-presidential face besides Benjamin Franklin to appear on our paper currency.
