Wahied Wahdat-Hagh: Iran’s Crazed Gay Bashers

Conspiracy is rife in certain sections of Iranian society when it comes to issues such as Israel, the US, and homosexuality. Sadly, mainstream media outlets also play their part
The ideologues of the Islamic regime in Iran know all too well how to use external enemies to persecute enemies closer to home. According to those in power, the Jews, the Israelis, the United States, and even the West more generally are the causes of Iran’s domestic problems.
One such “problem”, as perceived by Tehran at least, is homosexuality – of which the West is considered to be the root cause. This of course implies that homosexuality has not existed in Iran and the Arab world for thousands of years, until very recently.
In this regard, anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism are the tools that the Islamist rulers of Iran use to legitimise the execution of homosexuals. The ruling Islamists in Iran not only treat homosexuals with prejudice and disdain, but go so far as to execute those convicted of homosexuality – just as in Nazi Germany.
The Iranian news agency Mashregh News, an organisation with close ties to the Revolutionary Guard, recently published an article entitled, “Open and covert dimensions of homosexuality.” Mashregh News writes that Western culture, particularly that of the U.S. and Britain, with the help of Jews, spread homosexuality among their own people and among other nations.
The newspaper asks why the British government supports homosexuality even though homosexuals play a minor role in its society. For its answer, Mashregh News turns to conspiracy theories.
“For example, in England, only 1.5 percent of the population is homosexual. The official recognition of this minority is not adequate to their power and influence on the politics and society of that country.”
The author of the article then asks why homosexuals have received government support in the UK, even though they are politically insignificant.
He ponders how the British government benefits from supporting homosexuals, which he says is part of the “general strategy of Western cultures.” Otherwise, he asks, why would both conservative British politician David Cameron and liberal US President Barack Obama defend homosexuals?
Mashregh News writes that in England, gay marriage has been recognised since 2004 and that gay marriage will become entirely legal by 2015. In addition, the author of the article stresses that CNN reported that in the US 53 percent of the population is for the legalisation of gay marriage.
According to the Iranian newspaper, however, homosexuality is “villainous” and the “European and American apparatuses want to normalise something that is abominable.”
The author complains that Steve Ballmer and Bill Gates, both high-profile Microsoft executives, donated $100,000 each in support of gay marriage. He asserts that Ballmer and Gates seek to shape the Internet as a forum for the dissemination of homosexuality.
He further laments that in England, the United States, and in Canada, “Jewish capitalists award international literature prizes for pieces on homosexuality,” referring to the Dayne Ogilvie prize in Canada and the Lambada prize in the US. The author of the article expresses outrage that in some European countries and Japan there are film festivals celebrating homosexuality and that the heroes in Hollywood movies are often gay.
The newspaper goes on to complain that, before his election in 2008, Barack Obama had promised to give homosexuals more freedom. Since then, President Obama has even abolished the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which prohibited homosexuals in the military from openly practicing and discussing their sexuality − a move Mashregh News asserts was only made in order to better his chances of his re-election in 2012.
It is also claimed that homosexuality will be taught at schools in California – on the “initiative of a Jewish university in California, homosexuality is to be taught in school textbooks”. The author claims that such education would be compulsory for all students in California.
“Again, the Jews are playing a role”
The newspaper writes:
“Like other heinous crimes that people fall victim to, in this case Jewish capital and people are propagating the creation of a culture of homosexuality. The focus is on three fields: the arts, culture and political propaganda. One such activity is the awarding of prizes to writers who cover topics such as homosexuality and socio-political solidarity with the Zionist regime.”
Homosexuals are apparently helping Israel to spread this propaganda in European countries. Furthermore, it is stated that Tel Aviv is apparently the most popular city for homosexuals in the world.
Mashregh News then writes: “The Zionist regime is a promoter of homosexuality and organises demonstrations by homosexuals in different countries.” It cites Michael Oren, the Israeli ambassador to the United States, as saying that “Israel is a paradise for homosexuals.”
According to the newspaper, one of the “diabolical objectives of the global hegemonic power (the US) is to subjugate people.” The United States apparently uses all its power to “change the nature of human beings, to create a deformed creature without soul and spirit. These creatures will not be able to protest and shall be tamed. This is not possible without the destruction of family structures.”
I realise I won’t be the only one to take note of the irony in a fanatically religious newspaper, affiliated with the Islamist Revolutionary Guard, suggesting that the US government wants to tame its people.
Mashregh News argues that homosexuals are essentially submissive people who “are serving the inhuman cultural and political system of the West to the best of their ability.” The newspaper writes, “The new world order is trying to reeducate and tame everyone. These people are to have no inclination for resistance whatsoever.”

There’s more. The newspaper claims that “Politicians who support gays and homosexuals themselves make it clear that a long-term and very clear plan exists to create submissive, docile people.”
The “evil system” of the West not only spreads homosexuality, but also feminism and pornography.
Finally the article ends with the following: “Many experts believe that the US government is spreading homosexuality for the purpose of population control in the US and around the world. The aim is to reduce the number of marriages and destroy the birth rate in US and other countries.”
Of course, it is absurd that an Iranian newspaper is accusing the US government of spreading homosexuality for the purpose of population control – but this type of hate-based propaganda dovetails with numerous other Iranian conspiracy theories. We must remember, for example, that with the help of cartoons Iran incited Non-Aligned states with anti-Semitic and anti-American hate propaganda.
Perhaps of most concern, however, is the comment culture that Mashregh News attracts. The following is not for the faint-hearted but should be viewed in order to appreciate the broader conspiracy movement at large in Iran.
Seyyed: “I pray to god, that this Zionist regime will be wiped out by the Aryan and Muslim youth.”
Anonymous: “Zionism is the devil. The devil tells them how to spread these forms of behaviour.”
Anonymous: “You have to punish these homosexuals who have behavioural problems because they are carrying out genocide… Except those who have genetic problems.”
Student: “Some Rabbis spread devil worship and homosexuality in the world and say that they are the best of God’s creations.”
Mehdi: “Remember how this so-called paradise for homosexuals is about to destroy itself. Think of the suicides which take place in the Zionist regime. You can hear how these animals are committing suicide in hordes. Now please don’t say that it is not a disease. Please also do not drink Coke and not Pepsi Cola. These are all products of these scoundrels.”
Anonymous: “They are rapists…not homosexuals.”
Sergey Jamalsadeh: “The Zionists want to eliminate all non-Zionists from the surface of the Earth. They want to abolish the worship of God and instead introduce idolatry. I live in Germany and these vile acts are normal here. If you open your mouth, they say that you are against the human rights. If we do not take care of the cultural NATO, these vile lifestyles will also be transferred to Iran.”
Anonymous: “To rape a sheep is less impure than homosexuality.”
Mehdi: “Even dogs and pigs have more honour than these bastards.”
Anonymous: “Do not say such things. In the next world, dogs and pigs will complain because of such a comparison.”
Sajad: “It is a fact that Islam has defined the worse punishment for this: burning. This penalty is bigger than the punishment for adultery. God destroyed the city of Sodom because of its crimes. In general, the Jewish institutions and the Freemasons are supporting these dirty deeds because they are inhuman and anti-religious themselves. It would be a surprise if it worked in another way.”
Anonymous: “The West will suffer the same fate as Sodom.”
Seyyedreza: “Does the state of Israel still exist? Israel has been destroyed. It has only not been removed from some maps.”
Salman: “Sodom was resurrected …. God will condemn the Jewish Zionists.”
Amin: “Israel must be destroyed.”
Saman: “I am studying genetics. Homosexuality is a genetic problem.”
Javab: “You’re not a student of genetics. You are gay yourself.”
Said Jalili: “Death to Israel.”
Amir: “Anyone who has heard the speech of Ahmad Khatami on Al-Quds day knows that the Zionists have invaded all dimensions of human life and they constantly distort the truth. For example, they say homosexuality is normal, even though God destroyed Sodom because of that.”
Sense may be difficult to piece together from the above, but what is clear is that Europeans cannot remain silent while a United Nations member state executes homosexuals in the 21st Century while legitimising its actions with anti-Semitic and anti-American propaganda.
