U.S. State Department spokesperson confirmed to NBC News that they had seen Indonesian authority’s reports on the alleged plots, but declined further comment as it was an ongoing security investigation.

‘They were targeting the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya, Plaza 89 near the Australian Embassy, the office of Freeport in Jakarta, and headquarters of the police mobile brigade in Central Java,’ Alius said.

It was unclear how far the plans had advanced. A spokesman for the U.S. and embassy in Indonesia said he had no comment on the arrests.
