Hamas Trying to Bypass Iron Dome with Short Range Rockets
The IDF believes that Hamas learned from Operation Protective Edge, that their long range rockets are easily shot down and ineffective against Iron Dome.
In additional the longer range rockets require more fuel and explosives, and Hamas is having a hard time acquiring both since the operation ended.
As a result, the IDF believes that Hamas are producing a lot of short range rockets instead of long range rockets.
During Operation Protective Edge, Iron Dome was activated 600 times, with a 90% intercept rate.
Hamas launched 3500 rockets and mortars, of which 250 had a range of 40 kilometers, and only only 60 had a longer range that was able to reach Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
