They Said He Could’t Do It: Erick Stakelbeck
They said he couldn’t do it.
“They” being the mainstream media mouthpieces in the United States, Europe and Israel. According to our enlightened scribes and talking heads, Benjamin Netanyahu was a goner and Israel was about to welcome in a new left-wing government that would be more pliable to the Obama administration’s relentless demands on the Jewish State.
Only things didn’t work according to the global Left’s script–in fact, it was quite the opposite. Netanyahu’s Likud party won a resounding victory over Isaac Herzog’s Zionist Union that left no doubt that Bibi would be the man to lead Israel through the very rough waters ahead: from ISIS to Hamas to Hezbollah to the global “BDS” movement to a rise in anti-Semitism worldwide to a hostile “international community”–led by the Obama administration–demanding the quick establishment of a Palestinian state, to of course, Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
That’s a tall order, to say the least–yet Netanyahu is the right man for this particularly perilous period in Israel’s history.
He is reminiscent of Winston Churchill in that, much like the legendary British Prime Minister saw the gathering Nazi storm and the looming Soviet “Iron Curtain,” Bibi fully grasps the rising threat of radical Islam. Further, just like Churchill in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s, Netanyahu has been treated with mostly scorn by other Western leaders who would rather bury their heads in the sand than confront evil.
But unlike Churchill, who, unbelievably, was voted out of office by the British people in 1945 right after courageously leading them through one of the darkest periods in their history, Bibi was able to pull out what some are calling a miraculous reelection victory.
His reward? A spiteful, vengeful Obama administration that is even more committed to making Israel’s life miserable.
The Obama administration poured money and advisors into Israel in an attempt to unseat Netanyahu, shamelessly interfering in the national elections of a close ally, only to wind up with egg on its face when Bibi’s Likud trounced Herzog’s Zionist Union.
In the process Bibi trumped Obama yet again on the international stage and made him look foolish and feckless. Now the knives are truly out at the White House.
In an ominous sign of things to come, the President waited days to make a congratulatory phone call to Netanyahu (he wasted no time, however, making such calls to tyrants like Turkey’s Erdogan and Vladimir Putin).
In addition, Obama’s former senior advisor and longtime close confidante David Axelrod lambasted what he called Netanyahu’s “shameful 11th hour demagoguery” (that’s particularly rich, coming from a former top advisor to the Demagogue-in-Chief). And the Obama administration’s house organ, the New York Times, published a hysterical op-ed accusing the Israeli Prime Minister of “duplicity” and racist fear-mongering.
Worst of all, however, is the Obama administration’s doubling down in its efforts to finalize a disastrous nuclear deal with Iran that would leave Israel–and eventually, America–in mortal peril.
In another unprecedented move, the administration is also reportedly considering sanctions against Israel and may abandon it at the UN Security Council.
In essence, President Obama has declared war on Benjamin Netanyahu–all because Bibi dares refuse to go along with destructive, insane White House policies that would result in Iran possessing nuclear weapons aimed at Tel Aviv and a Palestinian terrorist state encompassing the Biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria.
And so an American president is threatening to sanction Israel–America’s steadfast friend and ally–while at the same time pushing to lift sanctions on the wicked Iranian regime, a mortal enemy of the United States for 36 years that has practically copyrighted the phrase “Death to America.”
Ladies and gentleman, we truly live in a world turned upside down–where evil is considered good, and good is considered evil. In the book of Zechariah 12:3, God warns that a day will come when He will “make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”
The Obama administration is playing an extremely dangerous game that is imperiling not only Israel, but America.
But take heart, folks. The Bible is clear that Israel–and those who love her–will not only survive. They will thrive.

“ISIS EXPOSED” MEDIA UPDATE
The second week of promotion for my latest book, “ISIS Exposed: Beheadings, Slavery and the Hellish Reality of Radical Islam” is winding down and I’m continuing to make the rounds. The book remains at or near the top of several categories on Amazon.com and I have been traveling and talking non-stop about ISIS and the threat it poses to America on a number of top TV and radio programs.
This past week brought trips to Dallas, where I joined nationally syndicated radio host Dennis Prager in a roundtable on Glenn Beck’s Blaze TV program. Then it was off to San Antonio to appear on two getv.org programs, “The Difference” and “Hagee Hotline” with Pastor Matthew Hagee.
In the meantime, my friends at David Horowitz’s Frontpage Magazine.com wrote an excellent review of the book.
The week of March 23rd brings more important dates, including a speaking engagement on “ISIS Exposed” for my good friends at the Endowment for Middle East Truth (EMET) that C-Span cameras will be covering and my appearance in an exciting new film, “Four Blood Moons,” that will be appearing in movie theaters nationwide on March 23d.
