This urge could first be seen with his comments that illegal immigration is an “act of love.”  Never mind the thousands of illegals who have taken jobs from Americans and consumed our taxpayer dollars for education and health care, and the thousands more who have committed crimes, including murder.  That was extremely tone-deaf.  But it was only one comment.

Now Bush has done it again.  He’s gone to the border, presumably to show that even he would be tough on border security.  Instead, he’s made headlines by saying the Asian illegal aliens, not Hispanic ones, are the real problem.

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush on Monday dismissed the controversy surrounding his use of the term “anchor baby,” saying that he merely used the term to describe specific instances in which non-Americans are abusing the law to gain citizenship for their children, and that it was more of a problem among Asians.

“What I was talking about was the specific case of fraud being committed where there is organized efforts — and frankly it’s more related to Asian people — coming into our country, having children in that organized effort, taking advantage of a noble concept, which is birthright citizenship,” Bush told reporters during a press conference at Palenque Grill here in McAllen.

It’s incredible.  What’s on the border of McAllen, Texas, Mr. Bush?  Is it China?  Is it Vietnam?  No, it’s Mexico.  And on this very border, instead of addressing the very real invasion of illegals, yes, dare we say it, from Mexico and Central America, Bush blames…Asians.

Bush is live-acting an article from The Onion.  I think he has so degraded his standing that he may not be able to win the nomination, even with his $120 million, even with the Bush name.

“Mr. Trump’s plans are not grounded in conservative principals,” Bush told reporters. “…The simple fact is that his proposal is unrealistic. It will cost hundreds of billions of dollars. It will violate people’s civil liberties. It will create friction with our third largest trading partner that is not necessary.”

Bush doesn’t seem to consider the billions of dollars of costs of having illegals in the country, or the loss of our civil liberties when Americans are shot or run over or robbed by some of them.  He worries more about Mexico’s feelings than our own.

Furthermore, Bush made it clear he doesn’t want a real fence on the border.  He wants only illegal alien TV:

You have to have a much deeper strategy than just building a fence, you have to have much more coordination with local law enforcement. There has to be more focus on a virtual fence which I propose as to using GPS technology, drone technology and other things like that,” Bush said during the event.

I am beginning to wonder if Bush is capable of winning the Republican nomination, given his repeated “purposeful blindness” (for want of a better term) when it comes to talking about the immigration issue.  He’s becoming a laughingstock, and when you become a laughingstock, you don’t get elected (unless you are running for vice president with Obama).
