Yet one more in a long line of homegrown Islamic terrorist “wannabes” was nabbed in New Jersey’s Bergen County on Tuesday after the suspect made threats using Internet social media websites against the President of the United States and the White House. The 17-year-old suspected jihadist is reportedly a resident of Bergen’s county seat, Hackensack, according to former police counterterrorism unit detective, Victor Napolitano, Jr.
The suspect also allegedly made reference to having ‘friends’ serving as fighters for the brutal and merciless Islamic State of Iraq and Israel (ISIS). He boast that they were planning to join in the U.S. and launch an “attack New York City,” according to Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli. “The defendant is no longer considered a threat,” Molinella’s spokeswoman said during a press briefing on Wednesday morning.
The police anti-terrorism unit arrested the teenager and served a search warrant at his Hackensack home. According to an Examiner source in the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, the young man — whose identity is being withheld by police and the prosecutor’s office — surrendered without resisting. “I’m told by fellow law enforcement that he was actually docile during the arrest and booking process.
More charges against the Jersey resident may be forthcoming as a result of cyber-crime detectives analyzing the communications equipment, such as personal computers, seized at the teen’s residence, according to Molinelli. The boy’s name was not released because of his age. He was charged with juvenile offenses of making threats of terrorism.
Besides the Bergen County cops, special agents with the United States Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted county detectives in the investigation and arrest.
While Islamists recruiting young American and European men to fight within their ranks is a known phenomenon, ISIS has created two battalions of women jihadists who may disguise themselves in women’s burqas in order to sneak past security checkpoints.
The two female battalions were dubbed Al-Khansaa and Umm al-Rayan after ISIS leaders set standards and preconditions for females to be eligible for membership, such as being unmarried and complying with the age requirement which is 18-to-25-years-old.
Also in New Jersey, a Jersey City, New Jersey, school board meeting erupted into an altercation between a room full of angry Muslim parents and the school board members, according to a World Net Daily news story on Tuesday. The parents had become hostile when they were told public schools would not be closed for the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha on September 24. One of the Muslim parents shouted into a TV news reporter’s microphone: “We’re going to be the majority soon!”
The speaker’s statement echoed a top Islamic preacher, Sheikh Muhammad Ayed, who said during a recent sermon at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque that Islam is taking root in America and Europe. “We will breed children with them, because we shall conquer their countries – whether you like it or not,” said the radical cleric.
