Carson is now close to getting 1 in 5 black voters

These numbers are interesting mainly because there’s been a lot of effort put into trying to nail down Carson’s base of support.

Currently, in a national election, Bush beats Hillary by 2 percent, Carson is ahead by 7 percent. The difference doesn’t so much come from black voters, though Carson is now close to getting 1 in 5 black voters.

Carson does much better among white women, beating Hillary by 54 to 40 percent. (Every one of those “Republicans have a woman problem” articles are misrepresenting a racial gender voter turnout gap as a gender issue)

Jeb Bush does better with Latinos than Carson by 10 percent. But Carson picks up enough white and black votes that it doesn’t matter.

Trump is one of the few candidates, Hillary currently beats. She even narrowly loses to Fiorina. Some of that may be down to Trump and Hillary Clinton nearly splitting the white female vote, even though it’s a landslide for most other Republicans.

Trump also performs worse with older voters and 10 percent of Republicans vote for Hillary.

Currently Biden ties Carson, but beats everyone else. Sanders ties Bush and Fiorina and loses sizably to Carson. Interestingly enough, the same trend that I saw among black voters in New York intensifies with a Sanders vs. Carson election giving Carson 26 percent of the black vote. A Sanders run would also give Carson Jeb-sized numbers among Latinos.

Sanders easily beats Trump, but black and Hispanic voters still don’t like Sanders.

Of course all these numbers can and will change a hundred times over before the election. And if Hillary were to become the nominee, the negative media stories would turn into a non-stop parade of constant gushing about how amazing she is and how terrible any Republican who dares to oppose her is.

But it’s an interesting peek into the minds of some voters.
