In 30 years, these are the people who will be running (or ruining) the United States of America…..These are the people currently in schools and in early work careers who are the subjects of training about all the microaggressions and offensive things that leap out at you. They go to safe spaces and watch videos of puppies when they get scared.These millennials may drag down the whole country, but we’re all to blame.
A new study from the world’s largest nonprofit educational testing organization says that American millennials are super stupid. In results that the Educational Testing Service managed to call “cause for concern” rather than “disastrous to the entire concept of American progress,” American millennials managed to score at or near the bottom in literacy, numeracy and computeracy ( Problem Solving in Technology-Rich Environments, or PS-TRE) when compared to 21 other countries. The overall results for the study called the low scores of American millennials “disappointing.”
The worst results were to be found in Numeracy, where American millennials ranked dead last. In computer skills American millennials ranked second to last, just above Poland. In Literacy, the average score of American millennials beat out the millennials of Spain and Italy, but tied Ireland and the united Kingdom for third worst.

For the purpose of the Educational Testing Service study a millennial was anyone between the ages of 16 and 34. Millennials are a demographic group that comprises 26.2 percent of the United States population, or 82 million people. The Educational Testing Service study focused on millennials because “This generation of American workers and citizens will largely determine the shape of the American economic and social landscape of the future.” Uh oh.
So which countries have the least stupid millennials? Japan and Finland swapped first and second place in all three categories, with Finland taking the top spot in PS-TRE and Numeracy.
What do this new study demonstrating the stupidity of American millennials compared to the rest of the world mean for America? My poor millennial brain can’t fathom it fully, but the study’s conclusion states “the comparatively low skill level of U.S. millennials is likely to test our international competitiveness over the coming decades… that future looks bleak.”
