Lin Wood Is a Democrat Troll GOP voters must ignore his crazy advice to sit out January’s Senate runoff. David Catron

Attorney Lin Wood appeared at an Atlanta press conference Wednesday wearing a red MAGA hat while imploring Georgia Republicans to do the dumbest thing they could possibly do in the state’s upcoming Senate election. He told them to boycott the January 5 runoff in which incumbent GOP Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler will face far-left challengers Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. Wood’s advice is far worse than bad counsel. If Georgia Republicans follow Wood’s advice, the Democrats will gain majority control of the U.S. Senate, establish one-party rule in Washington, and begin destroying everything President Trump has accomplished.
This is why the president himself is traveling to Georgia to hold a rally on behalf of Sens. Perdue and Loeffler. It is why he has come out against the crazy boycott Wood has called for. Last Friday he tweeted, “No, the 2020 election was a total scam … but we must get out and help David and Kelly, two GREAT people. Otherwise we are playing right into the hands of some very sick people. I will be in Georgia on Saturday!” Moreover, as Fox reports, “Vice President Mike Pence is heading back to Georgia to rally in support of Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.” Why, then, is Lin Wood encouraging Republicans to do something so self-destructive? He’s a Democrat troll. As Breitbart points out:
Wood has long backed Democrats for federal office and especially for Georgia offices. Donations to Democrat Party politicians from Wood over a decade plus total more than $40,000, and span from as far back as 2004…. Wood has donated thousands and thousands of dollars to top Democrats like former President Barack Obama, who he gave $2,300 to in 2008…. In 2014, he donated $5,000 to state Sen. Jason Carter — a Democrat candidate for governor of Georgia.… In 2017, Wood gave a whopping $12,600 to Georgia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Evans.
Evans, you will recall, was defeated by fellow Democrat Stacey Abrams in the 2018 gubernatorial primary. Abrams lost the general election to Republican Brian Kemp by 55,000 votes and promptly accused Kemp — without a single scrap of evidence — of voter suppression. After dining out for two years on that balderdash, Abrams is now claiming credit for Biden’s Georgia “victory” and is now working to get Ossoff and Warnock elected. Evidently, Lin Wood shares that dubious goal. As Newt Gingrich tweeted: “Lin Wood and Sidney Powell are totally destructive. Every Georgia conservative who cares about America MUST vote in the runoff. Their don’t vote strategy will cripple America.”
Gingrich mentions Sidney Powell because her statements at the Wednesday press conference were nearly as wacky as Wood’s wild rhetoric. This will do damage to her credibility at the worst possible time. She has filed a number of lawsuits raising serious questions relating to the security of the Dominion voting machines used by several swing states, including Georgia, where implausible vote spikes favoring Joe Biden occurred in the wee hours of November 4. In fact, a federal appeals court in Georgia has granted an expedited appeal pursuant to Powell’s request for a restraining order and a thorough forensic examination of the voting machines by outside cybersecurity experts. A federal appeals court said Wednesday it will expedite a case brought by high profile attorney Sidney Powell in her suit against Georgia election officials. On Sunday, a judge filed an order preventing election officials in Georgia from wiping or otherwise resetting the Dominion Voting Systems machines in several counties. However, Powell was looking for a statewide order, prompting her to seek an emergency appeal from the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, in Atlanta. On Tuesday, the court granted the emergency appeal and set deadlines for briefs and responses.
Powell represents several Georgia voters who argue that they have been disfranchised by a scheme to alter the vote count in the Peach State in favor of Joe Biden, who managed to eke out an implausible victory in a state that is rarely kind to Democrats. Her attempts to have outside experts examine the Dominion voting machines have caused her to be labeled throughout the establishment media as a “conspiracy theorist,” and her Wednesday appearance with Lin Wood will not help the cause of her clients. Meanwhile, Wood has received so much pushback from Republican voters that his position on boycotting the January runoff is evolving. Thursday, he tweeted, “I want ALL registered voters in GA to vote.”
Inevitably, Wood’s irresponsible rhetoric has delighted the Democrats and has received far more coverage from the media than any of the semi-coherent effusions delivered by the man they have anointed “president-elect.” The Daily Beast gleefully quoted Wood when he brayed, “This is Georgia, we ain’t dumb.” But their headlines make it clear that they believe Peach State voters are indeed dumb enough to follow this clown off the cliff. Knowing full well that neither of these people represent Trump, they labeled Wood and Powell “Trumpist lawyers.” NPR chimed in with an article under the following hopeful title: “Republican Infighting Threatens GOP Chances In Georgia Senate Runoffs.”
The real threats to Sens. Perdue and Loeffler are mysterious plumbing problems and even more mystifying mudslides of Democratic votes. As Paul Kengor pointed out recently in The American Spectator, one such cascade occurred in Georgia at 1:34AM on November 4. Biden suddenly received 136,155 votes concurrently with 29,115 votes for Donald Trump. Sorry, that simply fails the laugh test. In the end, Georgia voters are much less likely to be swayed by Democrat trolls like Lin Wood than to be buried beneath an avalanche of voter fraud. People like Wood can make themselves useful, however. They can sign up to be poll watchers and vote challengers. If they don’t want to do that, then they can just shut the hell up.
