According to a January 30 report by New York Attorney General Letitia James, thousands more nursing home residents may have died from COVID-19 than New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has publicly acknowledged. As investigators learned, nursing home deaths had been undercounted, even in facilities the state health department had made public.
As ProPublica noted, “the true death toll among nursing home residents was not mentioned in Cuomo’s much-publicized memoir on his leadership successes handling the pandemic.” The story launched an outcry, even among Democrats and the establishment media.
On February 15, Gov. Cuomo defended his pandemic response and the next day, Biden advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared on CNN with Jim Scietto. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Scietto recalled, had “argued that his state was following federal guidelines when he ordered those long-term care facilities to accept patients returning from hospitals. I wonder, can you clarify that. Was he really following federal guidelines to do this?”
“You know, Jim, I can’t,” Fauci responded. “I mean, excuse me. I really am – I’m honestly not trying to erase your question, but I’m not really sure of all the details of that, and I think if I, if you make a statement, it might be wrong or taken out of context. So, I prefer not to comment on that.” In reality, Fauci had already clarified the details. As Fox News recalled, last July Dr. Fauci told PBS that, unlike other parts of the country, New York responded “properly” and “correctly” to the pandemic.
In December, Dr. Fauci appeared at a Cuomo press conference but in February, Fauci declined to say whether the governor was following federal guidelines when he ordered elderly patients into nursing homes. This from a man routinely billed as the nation’s top infectious disease expert.
Dr. Fauci, 80, is actually the highest paid official in the federal government, and his $417,608 salary tops even the president of the United States. Fauci has headed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984 but his career in government goes back 53 years.
In 1968, two years after he earned his medical degree, Dr. Fauci hired on with the National Institutes of Health. As Fauci’s career would confirm, for government bureaucrats there is never a penalty for malpractice.
Fauci’s bio shows no advanced degrees in biochemistry or molecular biology, so strictly speaking he is not a virologist. According to Nobel laureate Kary Mullis, inventor of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Fauci “doesn’t understand electron microscopy and he doesn’t understand medicine. He should not be in a position like he’s in.”
Mullis wrote the foreword for Inventing the AIDS Virus, by UC Berkeley molecular biology professor Peter Duesberg, one of the world’s leading virologists. The book charts how Fauci blocked Duesberg’s media appearances and became the government’s mouthpiece for “AIDS thought control.”
As Michael Fumento showed in The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS, Fauci was wrong that AIDS would ravage the nation. Even so, Fauci duly continued at the helm of NIAID, where he promoted dangerous drugs such as AZT. See John Lauritsen’s Poison by Prescription: The AZT Story, with a foreword by Peter Duesberg and endorsed by, among others, UC Berkeley molecular biology professor Harry Rubin.
In January of 2017, NIAID boss Fauci had “no doubt” that “we will definitely get surprised in the next few years” with a disease outbreak. That year, the NIH revived dangerous gain of function research it had banned in 2014. As Nidhi Subbaraman explains in Nature, gain of function research “involves making pathogens more deadly or more transmissible.”
In 2019, Fauci’s NIAID funded the Wuhan Institute of Virology, then conducting work on deadly pathogens supplied by Chinese agents in Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory. The pathogens included the Nipah virus, able to jump between humans and as Tom Blackwell of Canada’s National Post explained, “a threat to cause a widespread outbreak,”
In 2017, Fauci had no doubt such an outbreak was coming and in 2020 the NIAID boss was certain that shutting down the country was the proper course of action, whatever the suffering and destruction the lockdown caused.
In February, 2021, Fauci declines to comment on nursing home deaths in New York state, despite the report by New York’s attorney general that the deaths were undercounted. At this writing, Fauci warns even those who have been vaccinated against dining out, and prophecies that Americans may still need to wear masks in 2022, when the country could approach a certain “degree of normality.”
For the NIAID boss, the highest paid bureaucrat in the federal government, scientific data do not determine the truth. For Anthony Fauci, the truth is what helps Democrats, hurts their opponent, and keeps the people living in fear. Under Joe Biden, the Democrats’ Lysenko will never face the investigation he deserves. For embattled Americans, the struggle against white coat supremacy is the struggle of memory against forgetting.
