Congress To Probe COVID Vaccines — And It’s About Time
One of the key functions of Congress is to oversee how our government’s many branches do their jobs. It’s a central part of holding those in power accountable. That’s why it’s good news that the new Republican House has decided to investigate the COVID-19 vaccines, which turned out to be deadlier, and far less effective, than promised.
This is not one of the “gotcha” committees, such as the ones run by the Democrats during the last session of Congress that amounted to little more than political sideshows with no real serious intent of reform or improving government.
Instead, as reported by The Epoch Times, the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic will investigate possible side effects of the vaccines, how and why they were approved by government regulators, and why they were forced on the public. The previous Democratic Congress was too busy investigating President Donald Trump and spending trillions on “stimulus” to do the job.
Iowa Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Weeks said the investigation’s goal is to prepare for future similar pandemics, “and that includes perfecting our vaccine development. In order to do so, we must have complete transparency in vaccine research, clinical trials and adverse reactions, and manufacturing.”
She added, “I expect our oversight hearings will shed light on the FDA approval process, the potential for side effects, and ultimately the success rate and safety of the vaccine — each of which will help us to navigate future global health emergencies.”
To which we say, it’s about time.
As others, we’ve been shocked by recent revelations from peer-reviewed studies that show the mRNA vaccines were less effective and possibly even harmful for large groups of people, while the almost-fetishized forced-wearing of masks had basically zero effect on the spread of the disease.
A recent paper published by The Lancet, the British-based journal of medicine, undertook a review of 65 studies around the world and found, according to Natural News, “natural immunity to the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) is far superior to the artificial ‘immunity’ generated by the so-called ‘vaccines.’ “
Of far more serious concern is the apparent negative impact that the vaccines have had on children, adolescents and younger adults. A number of recent studies have linked the novel “vaccines” made to interfere with COVID to higher rates of disabilities and excess deaths, heart attacks, myocarditis, type-1 diabetes and other diseases in young people, especially young men.
It’s a big reason why a number of European nations, after looking closely at the data, have essentially halted mRNA vaccinations for those under 50.
Then there was the mask fiasco. In 2020, CBS designated “Wear a mask,” a phrase uttered by Dr. Anthony Fauci early in the pandemic in an interview with CNN, as its top quote of the year.
Turns out, it was useless advice given by a bureaucrat who was relentlessly lionized by the left-media and mooned over by many celebrities and media types as a “sex symbol.”
Yet, as the recent Cochrane study showed, masking did nothing to halt the march of COVID, despite strong injunctions at both the federal, state and local levels forcing people to mask up. The Cochrane study, described by statisticians as the “gold standard” for its size, breadth and rigor, covering nearly three-quarters of a million people, shows little or no effect of wearing masks.
As Tom Jefferson of Oxford University, the lead author of the Cochrane review, put it: “There is just no evidence that they make any difference. Full stop.”
But there are many bad effects from wearing masks, including impeding children’s learning, socialization and speech abilities, which have all been shown in a number of other studies.
During our long pandemic nightmare, we heard another phrase: “Trust the science.” However, usually coming from a leftist politician, activist, or medical bureaucrat, that phrase actually meant something quite different: “Trust the unelected elites.”
This is why the House’s investigation into this travesty of science and medicine is so important. It’s not just about a pandemic. It’s also about how all of us were forced by those in power to play a giant game of COVID “Simon says” for nearly three years because, you know, “the science.”
Lockdowns, school closures, mandatory masking: it all cost trillions of dollars, but did little other than further tear our social fabric and create even greater cultural and political rifts among our citizens. People lost jobs and friendships. They were cancelled by social media, shunned.
So, yes, we need to know the truth.
Why, again, is this so important? Those who perpetrated this, whether in politics, government medicine, big pharma companies, or activist groups, are still out there, looking for any chance to again tell us what to do. COVID hasn’t gone away. But even if it does, they’ll find some other “emergency” that will require our complete and total obedience.
We can only hope that the House will look into these less-obvious aspects of the COVID disaster, too. As Pulitzer Prize winning historian Anne Applebaum presciently wrote just before the COVID pandemic struck:
“Throughout history, pandemics have led to an expansion of the power of the state: at times when people fear death, they go along with measures that they believe, rightly or wrongly, will save them — even if that means a loss of freedom.”
Amen. She was right. It happened here. Let’s not allow it to happen again.
